My brother is hilarious. He can talk about an ordinary situation and just get you rolling in laughter almost immediately. He also does funny walks, that almost makes my aunt wet her pants. He’s also extremely knowledgable about a lot of subjects, so he’s often my go-to guy if I want to know something about films, names of plants (and their original country of origin), where to eat, where to camp, where to get the best view of any particular local lake, who to talk to about getting info about local history, where to find hidden gems of public art, and who makes the best breakfast burrito in town. So I guess I would say that I like him, because he’s fun and knowledgeable. And he often tells me that he loves me.

Humor, kindness, people who are genuine. People with large kielbasa sandwiches.

Nothing. I don’t like most people.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

Creative people with a good sense of humor and a good aim.

Really, Jellies? Less than half as many answers here as on the “annoyed” thread? How sad is that?

RealEyesRealizeRealLies's avatar

They eventually leave.

wundayatta's avatar

When they love me then I start to feel like I’m worth something. If it weren’t for other people, I’d be dead.

RealEyesRealizeRealLies's avatar

Figures… If it weren’t for other people we’d never have been born.

Kardamom's avatar

@RealEyesRealizeRealLies I think you might have inadvertently ended up on the wrong thread. The thread for stuff that annoys you is over here

@JilltheTooth that’s pretty much what I was expecting. I was also expecting a long, carefully composed, contrarian tirade about how irredeemable us evil humans are and how the world would be better if we were to go extinct to show up in this thread and to achieve 25+ lurve.

Proud human here.

incendiary_dan's avatar

I like that we have had the potential to live sanely, and the potential to get back to that.

Art is one thing that comes from people that’s awesome and positive. It’s where you might be able to see/hear/otherwise perceive some true part of them, their essence. Sometimes it’s good sometimes it’s bad, but it’s a cool human thing.

Entertainment. I don’t know where I’d be without my movies and games. People make those. I wish I could to, some day.

People that persevere. When you hear about the Roma being completely mistreated in some places for example, when their very life is at stake…and yet they fight as much as they can for their rights. Makes me feel pretty small when I bitch about some minor thing.
Anyways, it’s a positive human element…but not when it’s used to hurt others, like the Nazis did in WWII. :/

Small businesses. I really love when I see a used book store called Ladybug Books or a video game store that specializes in rare and old ass games. In MontrĂ©al they have a movie store that sells all b movies. You should see all the stuff in there man, it’s fuckin heaven. These are people that are really into their trade and want to make people discover things, and share heir passion. It’s awesome compared to profit based places like HMV where they only have 573489232 copies of some super new movie for 46 bucks.

Compassion. As all emo as I am, many have shown compassion to me in a lot of parts of my life. It may not solve my problems, but it sure gives you strength when you’re in the pits.

Last but not least, I like hot sexy people.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard I was also expecting a long, carefully composed, contrarian tirade about how irredeemable us evil humans are and how the world would be better if we were to go extinct to show up in this thread and to achieve 25+ lurve.

Aye. That always makes me laugh. People saying shit like that. I think they’re just trying to be cool. I mean if they really felt like that, they’d go kill themselves for the Earth. DESTROY ALL PEOPLE, lookit me I’m so hardup, I’m gonna go piss off a pregnant wolverine.

I’m a pessimist about people too, but I do my best in trying to recognize the good, and it isn’t all that hard, really. Just a lot of bad overshadowing the good.

Hey Fluther! Our little girl is growing up and she’s turning out to be a fantastic, articulate and compassionate person.

Switches into Jewish mother outfit, “Now if she’d only get married and give us some grandkids, Oy!”

Yes, I’m talking about you @Symbeline. God, that was brilliant!

Berserker's avatar

@Kardamom Lol! Nice outfit.
And thanks. :)

incendiary_dan's avatar

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard & @Symbeline Plus, a lot of that human-hate is pretty racist. It ascribes the flaws and damages of a handful of cultures (indeed, perhaps just a handful of members of those cultures) to all humans. It’s pretty ignorant in terms of not acknowledging how some people have lived, i.e. living without fucking everything up and enslaving people and shit.

Either that, or it implicitly or explicitly states that “progress” (meaning some sort of imperialism) is natural to humans, and therefore those who don’t take part aren’t actually fully human. Either way, pretty racist.

I have found that a lot of people with the hardest exteriors have the softest, most compassionate interiors. But they will never admit to it, unless they are in a completely safe place. Those are hard to find. I’ve heard it said that if you scratch a cynic, you’ll find an idealist underneath. I like to think that the people who have been hurt the most have the most compassion for others. After all, they know what it’s like to be down.

athenasgriffin's avatar

I like people who make me laugh. I like people who aren’t afraid to be themselves. I like people who are different than me, and who show me new things.

augustlan's avatar

Kindness, smiles, taking the time to teach others new things, laughter, love, holding hands, making love, genuine apologies, compassion, empathy, sympathy, birthing new people, raising them well, working to make life better for others, sharing themselves and their stories.

JilltheTooth's avatar

I stopped following the other thread, too cliched and depressing. I like a world full of Jellies that have each others’ backs, virtually, and sometimes otherwise. Ah, hell, I’ll say what y’all are thinking, I love a world with @augustlan in it! Blatant sucking up, I know, but I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy this morning.
