Your city website.

We have a weekly free newspaper in our area – your town may have something similar.

I like to wander around my town and look at bulletin board postings in various locations: music stores, grocery co-ops, library. There are frequently events advertised there that don’t make it into any local media outlets.

I check the county websites events calendar.

The best answer to this question could depend on knowing what city you’re in. For example, in Brooklyn there are numerous, excellent sites for this.
Take this for example.

You could try Yelp or Going . Of course, this assumes you live in or near one of the cities for these sites. Good Luck.

Check out eventful.com. Not only can you you enter a city name and see what’s going on, but you can also demand events in your city – like artists to come and perform for example.

I would highly recommend EveryBLock EveryBlock filters an assortment of local news by location so you can keep track of what’s happening on your block, in your neighborhood and all over your city. Currently its available only for Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. Its worth checking out if you live in any of those cities.

Good Luck!
