Why do DVI ports vary so much?

I’ve seen at 5 different varyations on DVI ports, from little pins here and there to the whole pin layout but its all the same. Why does it change so damn much?

Perhaps there was a lack of standardization regarding the DVI ports unlike, say, MIDI.
