I have a bad cut on my finger, what should I do? (details)
I was trying to pick up my razor while I was shaving my legs, and it slipped and I cut my thumb, bad. So I put Neosporin on it and a band aid. It’s still bleeding and still hurts a lot. It’s been 2 days. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes you are doing something wrong. Call your family doctor or other medical professional and ask them what to do. An internet Q&A forum is not going to fix your thumb.
jesus christ! i never had problems with homework or relationship questions but the constant searching for medical assistance from a bunch of strangers fucking kills me.
I would get in contact with a doctor as @Blondesjon suggests. You don’t want to risk infection.
@blueberry_kid : An infection like that, if not treated, could effectively end your violin career… call soonest.
Yup, time to give the doctor a call if it is still bleeding after two days, despite being bandaged.
Not that it matters, but I am curious as to what type of razor/blade it is. The vast majority of the ones today can cause nicks or shallow cuts, but nothing like the old disposable blades for a metal razor.
@Pied_Pfeffer The razor that I used was just a pink Venus razor. Like I said, I was shaving at the time, and I dropped and tried to pick it up.
The yarrow flower is a fantastic blood clotter, so much so that it spread originally throughout Europe because Roman soldiers planted them wherever they went. It’s best used in powdered form and placed on wounds, but fresh flowers and even the leaves can be used. It also helps somewhat with the disinfecting, but not enough to not use some other disinfectant after a couple days.
It not the clotting problem but by now there is an infection in the cut.
Get it to a ER or somewhere you can get on antibiotics and have stitches to close it up
You can try Super Glue I cracked my head open once and closed the bleeding quite badly wound with it!
@blueberry_kid Thank you for the additional information. A Venus razor is similar to what I use. I’ve cut a finger more than once. It leaves a couple of slashes that bleed, but they aren’t deep enough to require stitches. Even when I played with Dad’s disposable razor blade dispenser as a child and got a fairly deep gash, it only bled a lot and didn’t require stitches.
It might be worthwhile investing in a styptic pencil. Depending upon where you live, they should be available at any local drug store chain. It also may help to let the wound get some air. I’ve found that keeping a bandage on the whole time contains moisture that slows the healing process.
Did you show this cut to your mom? Moms are usually good with knowing what to do in this situation.
@Cruiser is right. Hold the edges together and apply Super Glue
It’s okay everybody! My thumb is now okay with the help of my mommy and Dr. Mitusaake
Glad to hear the thumb is OKAY..
Glad you are too ! !
Thank you for the update. What did it take to get it on the mend?
I used the super glue! And then later I put a little Neosporin on it and a Bandaid, and then later in the morning, it was all better!!!
Thanks for your help!
It’s good to hear that you are on the mend, as well as your solution. Thank you for sharing.
