If broccoli were really bad for you, would it taste as good as chocolate?

Just wondering if it is the “forbidden fruit” syndrome that makes chocolate taste so much better than broccoli. What do you think?

Ain’t got a clue mate, but you probbaly have the most awesome assortment of topics I’ve seen put together in a loooong time.
I wonder this all of the time.
I don’t think so, though. I think that many of the foods that taste so good to us are that way because they contain certain things that we need… but are not abundant in nature. I think that’s how it works, anyhow.
I have wondered, though.
Chocolate can be good for you! Can be…
Nope. It would still taste like broccoli.
Chocolate even sounds sexier when you say it. Broccoli sounds like you are hacking something up when it’s spoken. haha
Being natural, I would say no. However, if we added a bunch junk to it (like most snack chocolate has) then it may taste better.
I happen to love broccoli – cooked or raw. I think if a chocolate bar and a plate of ready to eat broccoli were sitting in front of me, I’d devour the broccoli.
Nope. It would still taste the same. I don’t think you can change its flavor just by making it “forbidden.”
Does the fact that I would rather have broccoli than chocolate make me a poor excuse for a woman?
Chocolate covered broccoli anyone?
@Dutchess_III The same thought crossed my mind.
@ANef_is_Enuf I’d rather eat chocolate covered broccoli than a chocolate covered bug.
Thanks y’all. I really like broccoli too. I was more questioning the “forbidden fruit” syndrome than the tastiness of broccoli.
GA’s to all.
@Symbeline – I figured since it is not the most exciting question and it is a long weekend, I would have to spice up the topics to garner some interest! It seems to have worked!
According to evolutionary psychological theories, perhaps.
First you must understand that evolution happens very slowly, so our brains are adapted for the lifestyle we lived about 10,000 year ago.
Sugars and carbs provide a lot of energy, so they taste good to us to give us the incentive to eat them when we come across them. Back then, this was a rare occurence.
However, in a modern lifestyle, they are not hard to come by, and so they are bad for us because they are bad in large amounts. They still taste good because back when we evolved a taste for them, they were rare foods and we couldn’t really overeat them.
If, back when we were evolving our tastes for various foods, brocolli was a rare food and was good for us in small amounts, it would probably taste good like chocolate.
Broccolli is pretty. Chocolate looks like poo. Just sayin’.
Has anyone tried chocolate covered broccoli?
Where is @willworkforchocolate??? If anyone would have tried it, she would be the one!!!
Sorry, sorry… I was at the beach for the last 4 days! No, I’ve never tried chocolate covered broccoli. Broccoli makes me vomit. Unless it’s in Chinese food, then it’s good.
Nothing can taste as good as chocolate! Except for maybe chocolate covered chocolate…
@WillWorkForChocolate – glad you checked in. I was getting worried when you did not respond to a chocolate question!!!
Did you have fun at the beach?
@rooeytoo LOL! Yes, yes, I’m all about the chocolate…
And yes, we did have fun at the beach! I got lots of video of my kiddos building sand castles and splashing!
