Is there such a thing as Jesus People? Please read details.

Lately I have been listening to some older music, and I have been in particular listening to the Eagles. I never really realized how much stuff they recorded, and a lot of it is really good.
Wish I would have been there the first time.
Anyway…
There is a song (The Last Resort) that has a line…
“Some rich men came and raped the land,
Nobody caught ‘em
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus
People bought ‘em”

I think I get the metaphor, but…

a. Are Jesus People a real identifiable group,
OR
b. Is the guy saying, “Jesus! People Bought em!” as if they were so popular they sold out super-fast.
