When I sync my iphone, where exactly do my pictures from the iphone go within itunes?
My iphone is full because of several thousand photos taken on it. I do sync my phone, change my apps, manage my music etc. Everything is great except I can’t find my iphone pictures on my computer anywhere. I don’t see that they were backed up to itunes. I don’t see that they were backed up to the computer. Therefore, I never delete off my phone and it’s causing problems. When I sync the phone do they automatically back up to the computer and if so, where?

iTunes does not sync your photo library back to your machine, it’ll import photos from your desktop to the phone, but not vice versa on its own.
If you use a mac, iPhoto should offer to import them back automatically if you haven’t changed settings. If you’re on a windows machine you’re on your own to either opening the photo folder on the iphone inside windows explorer and manually copying them back, or using photo library software like the windows built-in one or something like picasa.
thanks! I knew it wasn’t a simple sync..!
Check this out. Once you locate the files, you’ll need something like this to decode them.

if you do not set itunes to open automatically when you connect your iphone to your computer, a box comes up which allows you to import your phone pics to your windows folders or to a flash drive…just like any camera. when you do this, i would first send them all to a flash drive so you absolutly have them, do not open i tunes. now the tough part how to get the photos off your phone and taking up space…havent figured that one yet. i do know if you dont have itunes specifically set to capture photos (thats a check box)on sync, then it wont, and if you didnt, that may be why you cant find them anywhere.
