What is the best website for simple photosharing ..just for Fluther sharing?

Asked by Plucky (10319points) July 4th, 2011

I have wanted to share some of my own images with the Fluther community. I’m wondering which website would be best for that.

I’m looking for something simple and not too intrusive. I don’t want to have to sign up for an email program or anything similar.

I’ve never used any Q&A website nor photosharing website. I just want to do it for use with Fluther.

I did find similar questions to this but the one I found was 2 years old. The other was about private sharing.

Photobucket is good, you never get emails and they have direct links to pictures or the whole album which is nice, plus a nice layout.

We do have a Fluther photobucket page.

@KatetheGreat We do? Where is that?

Oh, thank you both so much. :)

If you’re looking to post a picture in response to a question (or in a question), you can also use imgur.com for that. You don’t even have to make an account there. :)

@PluckyDog The photo bucket @XOIIO sited is the newest one.

@augustlan Yeah, that’s basically what I meant – for questions/answers on Fluther. Thank you very much. :)

I’m sure, at some point, I’ll add myself to the Fluther Photobucket though.

I prefer flickr over any other photo hosting service.

The other services I have used suck purple mule balls, in my experience. I love flickr though.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Could you post a pic of purple mule balls as I’ve never seen any?

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Can you give us some pros and cons about what you liked and didn’t like about each of the photo sharing choices? I’ve never used any of them either.

And definitely please post a picture of the purple mule balls. I know everyone is dying to see them. He He.

Do you have an @FPCB book of lexicon for all of your fabulous sayings? If not, you should : )

TexasDude's avatar

@chyna never actually seen them myself.

@Kardamom I just don’t like the layout or the interface of any of the other sites. Flickr seems to be the easiest and most intuitive of the hosts to me.

So…is the mule colored purple? And we’re just discussing his balls. Or…is it a regular-colored mule, and his balls are purple?

If it’s just for an illustrative link or two, without attached information or log-in required, I prefer the unbeatable simplicity and rapidity of Postimage

My favourite facet of its workings is the fact they do not compress, resize or otherwise alter your uploads
(unless asked to)

it’s my Ctrl+5 shortcut (Fluther is Ctrl+4, slightly easier to reach)

I quite like yfrog.

There seem to be at least two separate Photobucket sites.

They are, in no particular order:
This one
This one (from @XOIIO above)

And if you include “Fluther” in the tags, then it’s searchable that way, too.

I have to agree with Fiddle. Flickr is an amazing and easy to use site. One of my favourite features is that people cannot obtain the files from the website. Therefore, I know my work is completely safe.

Thank you for all the suggestions. :)
