I'm not complaining but what's with the sea critter theme for Fluther avatars and awards?
I’d looked around but have not seen any question about the sea critter theme of Fluther avatars and awards. Any particular reason for the theme?

A Fluther is a grouping of Jellyfish.
The name itself is aquatic – why not keep up the theme? This is from the Help page:
A fluther is a group of jellyfish, like a gaggle of geese or a run of salmon. “Fluther” is pronounced /‘flʌ ðɚ/, and rhymes with “brother” and “mother”.
I wonder who started it and what the other ideas/options were (if any), as in:
At brain-storming session of good people who started Fluther:
<Project Manager>: Well people, we have a winner here but what the heck do we call it?
<Nerd #1>: Ugggh, ... Ooooooooh I know! How about this tree thing coz y’know… trees sprout branches and fruit – kinda like answers ,,
<Nerd #2>: Hmmmph
etc. etc. until somehow we ended up with Fluther…?
It was decided upon by the founders. Here is a video interview that mentions it.
I don’t know, but I couldn’t imagine this place without it.
Our founders were looking for a name that implied a cooperative group, and Fluther happened to be available. The sea theme naturally followed.
It’s pronounced /‘flʌ ðɚ/, ??? WTH @Seelix?!!
Weren’t they at the LA zoo or some aquatic place when they came up with the idea @augustlan?
@Dutchess_III I think they were in college on the east coast when they came up with Fluther, but I could be wrong.
The idea for Fluther came post college but the founders met in college. They were looking for a cute collective noun and Fluther came up as an unused one. The rest – as they say – is hsitory.
@janbb [You are SO modded for spelling error!!!]
@janbb should know, she and her son were in on the ground floor or really, the ocean floor, when Fluther came into being.
Because this is the only place where shark VS zombie makes sense. :D
O how funny @Seelix!
Of course I made fun of you! That’s what we “Colossal Squids” do!
