How do I get in touch with the Facebook legal team?
Before Facebook put out their ”/(name), e.g. facebook.com/fritolay” access, my company put in some paperwork reserving it. Instead of having a clean address, we now have number and all that jazz after the forward slash. Now, we can’t access it because it needs to be released. I want to contact Facebook legal and get to the bottom of this. Or other ideas? Thanks :)

You work for Fritolay? I’m confused.
I work at a company, let’s call them “fork” that wants the www.facebook.com/fork url. we put in the paperwork to claim it before it was announced to the general public. Now, we can’t reclaim it and the problem is on my lap.
re: fork, im eating lunch!
edited by me. I think I misunderstood your original post.
What makes you so certain that the “paperwork” you submitted to FB was done in time to actually reserve the name?
I’d suggest instead modifying the name in a way that makes it unique, and a way that you can live with it.
For example, I offer: facebook.com/good.food.madison (an organization that I know a little bit about).
Or you can get involved in a protracted “discussion” / “argument” and “escalation” that might do wonders for your debating skills… and avail you nothing. You’re better off dealing with the Facebook “sales” people than with their “legal” people, who will only wrap you in arguments.
Unless money has changed hands, you’ve got no legal contract with Facebook that would require access to their legal team.
Contact customer support by filling out their Infringing Username form if you believe your intellectual property or publicity rights are being usurped.
Ted Ullyot is the General Counsel for Facebook. Send him a letter or call their switchboard.
I’m confused why you think your company has any right to “claim” a pathname off of facebook.com. You only barely have the right to claim fork.com. You have absolutely no right to force Facebook to give you anything – unless you have a contract that they signed promising it to you, and you fulfilled all obligations in said contract.
(and given that such a contract would have required contact with their legal team to begin with, and given that you obviously don’t have a contact for their legal team (as evidenced by this question), I can only conclude that you don’t have any such contract. And thus, you have absolutely no rights to that pathname. I don’t know what “paperwork” you think you filed, but it wasn’t anything legally binding.)
It’s like when I pattern something and before I get the chance to claim it over several places I end up with ‘tards using it instead of me .
Like a fan used TImbaland on twitter and the real Timba uses timbaland007 .
@JonnyCeltics better look over facebook pages to see if there’s a way to contact them [ the staff ] .
[ I know this doesn’t help much but still ]
I believe the way they work it is that no one has “reserved” anything until they have a certain number of likes/followers… it used to be 25.
It’s to keep illegitimate squatting to a minimum.
I don’t know how you would have standing to go after a position on their site, that you receive for free, contract or not.
@funkdaddy that shouldn’t be how they reserve things. I mean facebook is free and if you want something to keep for yourself you can either create a few accounts to follow yourself or ask a few friends to help out.
