What are your favorite vocalists in bands you like? Least favorite?

Driving in to work today and I was listening to a Built To Spill song and realized that I wished his voice was different. I like BTS despite the fact his voice drives me crazy sometimes.
It got me thinking of other voices I dislike, and more importantly – voices I do like.
Do you have bands you like mostly because of the voice? How about bands that you probably would like if you could get past the voice?
Here’s a short list I thought of….
Ignore the fact that my music is ancient and outdated.
Vocalists I like:

– Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel)
– Joe Strummer (The Clash)
– Ian Brown (The Stone Roses)
– Peter Murphy (Bauhaus)
Bands I like even though I don’t like these vocalists:
- Doug Martsch (Built to Spill)
– Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails)
– Guy Picciotto (Fugazi) Ian MacKaye is good.
– Nico (Velvet Underground) Nothing wrong with Lou Reed.

I like Norah Jone’s voice a lot and for male singers I really like Frank Marino
I hate Tori Amos’ singing. Like nails on a chalkboard
@Pele – But do you like her music and listen to it despite the voice?
@tom_g Only if I’m really drunk I can listen to some Tori. I love Peter Murphy’s voice by the way. He once said he adopted his singing style from his irish mother. And, sorry to say I love NICO’s voice too.
I hate Rod Stewart’s voice.
I love Freddie Mercury of Queen.
Just to be clear, the question is attempting to find out if people like/dislike a vocalist in a band that they actually like and listen to. For example, @marinelife likes and listens to Rod Stewart’s music but dislikes Rod Stewart’s voice.
Oh, I like the music for The Smashing Pumpkins but I hate Billy Corgans voice.
@Pele – Great one. Yes, I think most people despise his nasally whine, but still like much of the Smashing Pumpkins’ music. For some reason, I like his voice.
@tom_g My bad then. I hate Rod Stewart’s voice so much I would never listen to him. I will have to substitute Robert Plant, because I love Led Zeppelin, but am not so keen on Plant’s voice.
@marinelife – re: Led Zeppelin. I feel the same way. When I was younger, I listened to them all the time, but always wished Robert Plant would just tone it down a bit.
I like Bob Dylan’s music, and his song writing is amazing but I hate his voice.
I like Brain Ferry’s voice, but I don’t like late 80’s Roxy Music.
Tarja Turunen is my favorite vocalist. She’s in the band Nightwish.
I really don’t like Robert Plant’s (Led Zeppelin) voice.
Serj Tankian from System of a Down is amazing.
Claudio Sanchez from Coheed & Cambria gets better every album.
Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave is a great vocalist.
@erichw1504 I went to one of C&C’s concerts once and I got to touch his poofy hair!

@erichw1504 They are fabulous in concert. Did you hear about their bass player getting arrested for robbing a CVS?
I don’t usually follow current bands, but at the moment Mumford and Sons is killing me, particularly the vocalist.
I love Brad Roberts’s voice and the band (Crash Test Dummies).
The good band/bad singer thing doesn’t go up for me, if i don’t like a voice i refuse to listen to it.
Forgot Tom Waits – love the voice and the music. I would imagine that in his case, if you disliked his voice, there would be no getting around it. It’s such a large part of his music.
Sonic Youth – I was always ok with Thurston Moore, but had a difficult time with Kim Gordon’s voice.
Nick Cave – love his voice and his music.
Also love Harriet Wheeler from the Sundays, although not a huge fan of their music.
It’s tough to find anyone with a worse voice or lyrics than Fred Durst
Like:
Peter Cetera, formerly of Chicago.
Molly Shea from The Acrylics. I can only enjoy their music when she sings lead.
Dislike:
John Francis Daley from Dayplayer. Although he’s a handsome, talented actor, he should really take some singing lessons.
