A couple of times.
It makes me laugh that somewhere, someone is falling for this BS.
How does one “inform the moderators”?
I only get 3 or 4 of those a day. It’s absolutely amazing how many people in a poor country like Nigeria want to give me tens of millions of dollars. Then there are the Russian beauties that want to marry me, and the folks like Mr Ogbo Joseph who want to purchase (WOOD DESK) and how much do I chage, haw many can I deliver.
All of them end up asking you to send money to cover the cost of the transfer (or pretty lady’s travcel to the USA) and then they need your bank account details to send you money. Only the sending goes in the other direction.
All scams. Just delete them the moment you see the wording.
Is that, deletion, all that you would advise?
It is a crude scam and I would be sorely tempted to play along and see how far you can take it without of course providing the banking or other information that ‘Edward’ will ask you for. Something like this…....
Dear one
Thank you for your offer.
Can I suggest that we invest the $4,500,000 in 10 square miles of Scottish moorland that we could then re sell as 30,976,000 lots of one square yard at £15:00 a piece giving us a profit of half a billion pounds.
Alternatively, if you prefer investing in manufacturing I have an idea for mass producing novelty tea pots made of the finest Belgian chocolate.
Awaiting your clearification.
I think the mods part is because of the last line and it does sound like something Augustlan should be told about.
That’s an email notification from us, that you got a PM. The PM is spam. When we get notified (you can either send one of us a PM or send an email via the contact button), the sender gets banned and the spam disappears. Consider us notified. Thanks!
Do everyone a favor next time…
Reply to them, they will respond to you again, then ignore them. On average far less than 1% of people are fooled by this kind of stuff, however, it still exists because there is profit in it.
Whenever you get a scam like this, tie them up a little, if everyone does it, it makes it too much work to continue to be profitable for them, and the problem will go away.
Lets see….how many times have I gotten something like that? About a gazillion times. Sometimes from Nigeria, Guana, Niger, East Temor, Soviet Georgia, you name it.
Man…if I actually got these things, I’d play along with it sooo hard.
You can find a list of moderators here, you can send a message to one of us to alert us. Chances are, though, that the spammer has PMed one of us mods too so we’ll already know.
Augustlan, the CM, is probably the best person to PM, because she basically never sleeps and will always be able to ban spammers.
