Who inspires you the most?

Asked by LizzieBee (181points) July 16th, 2011

Who inspires you the most and why?

Mine would have to be John Lennon, because ever since I heard his song, Imagine, I have vowed to live my life peacefully and to try and bring his perfect world to others and try and make it real.

My other inspiration is my Aunt Nikki. She’s an amazing single mother who is loving, down to earth, and does the very best she can for her daughter.

Certain friends of mine who seem to do everything right: eat healthy, go to bed on time, stay in touch with friends, read books, etc. When I’m not doing things well or I’m in a period of conflict, I just think, “Okay, time to be just like M. M.”

Most of my friends becuase they are normally…more…academically advanced than me. I am smart, but my friend Harper made all honors classes. She inspires me to do better. And strive for higher expectations and to get better grades. Another inspiration would be Ghandi or Mother Theresa. Maybe even the founder of Victoria secret. Ghandi because he fought tooth and nail to strive for freedom and for his religion. Mother theresa because she is..litereally a saint. I love her. The founder of Victoria’s Secret because bras are amazing. I’ll even throw in the Beatles. Love those guys.

People from all walks of life.

The Maori elder who in her 70s decided to study at a tertiary level and is now travelling the world speaking about her experiences in life at United Nations events.

The Aboriginal elder who in his 80s is still working to improve the lives of those in his community. Such a beautiful man that I will never forget.

The young woman who organised an Amnesty International conference for young people and spoke so eloquently about her hopes for the world.

My two dear friends who are fighting cancer but still stay in touch with their friends and keep them up-to-date on their progress.

The young woman with some severe disabilities who is getting on with her life, studying and doing things I wouldn’t have the guts to do!

The jelly here who has changed her life to foster children and now looks after two little people whose lives have surely been transformed because of her.

Heroes are all around us. We just need to look and listen to their stories. I am inspired by people like these every day and often reminded of how much more I could be doing.

I have a few ‘teachers’ in my stable, but, the best inspiration for me is hanging in nature with my animals in my little retreat like house in the hills.
Just now, perfect sunset, geese on the freshly watered lawn, the light and shadows are sublime, just spent the last hour sitting on the bench on my hill is bliss out mode.
We are the world and we are one with it all.

The Universe is my hero.

Magic it is!

And now….the MOON is coming up! :-D

Work well done. Dedication to craft and attention to detail. Beautiful works of art or certain songs. These things inspire me. Not people.

Now people, they motivate me. Sometimes to emulate their actions, sometimes to do the opposite.

My daughter. She truly believes everything is possible, still believes in things will always get better and believes in fairies. I worked really hard to preserve her spirit and at 9 she still has child-like wonder.

My 15 yr old son. He has done so much and done it all so well that he continually inspires me to work harder and be a better person so I can be the best possible role model for him.

My mother. She raised me as a single Mom while never letting me lack in participating in sports and driving me halfway around the province almost every weekend.

My father. Great parent and also a friend. Solid, always there to help. He has a contagious good mood and a strong sense of duty. Just a great guy to be around and a fantastic role model.
