Why do I have to fast before a gallbladder ultrasound?
I was told not to eat after 10:00 tonight. But I slipped up. I had ham and mashed potatoes. The baby had a craving! What was I supposed to do? Will this have a big impact on my ultrasound tomorrow morning?

Make sure you mention that rather heavy meal to the technician tomorrow. It seems counterproductive to worry about a possible serious medical condition and then contravene the instructions.
Slipped up? You could have had a meal at 9:30 and just toughed it out. The baby would have been just fine. You have had health concerns throughout this pregnancy.. why sabotage the ultrasound?
I had it less than a half hour after the cutoff. Because instead of eating dinner at my normal time, I was driving my family home. Didn’t plan on that. Couldn’t stop at a fast food restaurant because I remember the dr saying avoid greasy foods today.
Don’t defend yourself to me. Explain to the technician and the doctor. Perhaps planning ahead is a good idea on such an evening? You could have been creative and stopped at a market for some fruit, a granola bar and a quart of milk, for example, or a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter and jelly.
I made a half an hour mistake. Shoot me.
It won’t matter if it was only ½ hour, but tell them anyway. The 10 hour rules are for the envelpope pushers.
Pretty much they need to see what your empty one looks like. It is like chewing gum when you get a x-ray at the dentist.
If you’re having gallbladder issues it’s best to avoid greasy foods period. I’d say tell them but expect unclear results possibly caused by not following the directions if they
go ahead and test anyway.
Everything turned out fine and my meal wasn’t an issue.
