Where can I find detailed yet simplified information, on what ingredients contain what salts and carbohydrates etc ?

Asked by poisonedantidote (21680points) July 18th, 2011

I need to be able to know how many calories, suggars, vitamins, and so on, are in each raw ingredient.

For example, how many calories, vitamins, proteins, acids and so on are there in a tomato, or a gram of pork, or some other thing.

Hon…this is easy. You just need to educate yourself on calories. The more calories something has, the more sugar/fat etc. it probably has. You can google each individual item, of course, which you should probably do until it’s second nature to you.

Tomato—0 calories. (I can tell you that off the top of my head.) The rest I googled Nutritional value in a tomato
Sodium 0% of daily recommended (until you pour salt on it like I do.)
Carbs 6g (2% of daily recommended)

What are you aiming for, anyway? Weight loss?

My tax dollars paid for this database at the USDA.
Enjoy.
You owe me 0.00001 cents.

You can also join livestrong to use their nutrition information. It has a lot of brands and restaurant foods to make things easy for you.

Why do you want to know, anyway? Just curious.
