It's Fair/Amusement Park time...What's your go-to, gotta have, must try, food, ride or event?

Personally, I never liked corn dogs, but I can’t pass up vinegar/malted fries. The last amusement ride to forced myself to partake of was the Demon Drop (29 years ago).:D
Be it the State Fair, community fair, Renaissance Fair, or amusement park, what brings out the kid in you when you attend?

The money I find on the ground :D
I love, love, love the Fisher scones with raspberry jam at the Puyallup fair.
At a lot of the fairs, they have local restaurants do stands, and usually at least one is a Thai place that’ll have some Pad Thai and spring rolls. I always get the Pad Thai for then, and an order of the spring rolls to take home. Probably some local pizza, too (I love pizza, but hate Dominos/Pizza Hut/Papa John’s/etc), so it’s a great way to try a new place.
@marinelife I want to go to a fair that has jam & scones…YUM!
Not quite a fair but at Disney World the ride Soarin’ at Epcot in The Land is fantastic!
At a fair I like a candy apple or funnel cake. The tea cups are fun. I haven’t been to a fair in years.
Our local fair is the Del Mar Fair (now called the San Diego Fair but any long-time locals still call it the Del Mar Fair.) My must-sees are the Design in Wood woodworking show and the dairy goats. Must-have nosh are the garlic fries with chipotle aioli. I don’t do rides.
Roller-coasters especially the wooden ones! I LOVE em!
Cedar Point. Big scaryass rides. Chocolate covered bacon and Elephant Ears for the win.
I’m a lover of the Fun Fair. The scarier the ride, the better. Love roller-coasters and the waltzers are my favourite.
I need roller coasters, tilt-a-whirls, corny dogs, funnel cakes and fried twinkies!!
-@SpatzieLover Here is the recipe, but no raisins.
Aside from Disneyland, if there are rides that have do with speed and gravity against my body then those are the ones I like. As far as good goes, I want a little pinch of fresh cotton candy and a vanilla soft serve dipped in hard shell chocolate.
Sorry, fairs and amusement parks have never been my idea of a good time!
Aside from Disneyland, I loved going to the Renaissance Faire. Fencing, Drench a Wench (which ended with the onset of Aids), the various skill competitions…
Food: grilled corn on the cob, beer battered onion rings, sweet potato fries, deep fried mushrooms or avocados and fudge!
Exhibits: garden, farm animals (especially pigs and bunnies) photography and people’s funny collections of things (like salt shakers and stuff that their cat brought in attached to their fur).
Rides: the skyride that takes you above the crowd from one end to the other, and the footsie wootsie
Games: one my friend and I made up called “categories” in which we make up a bunch of category items while we are driving to the fair, and once we get there, then we look for things and get points for each item, such as “spot the biggest tatoo on the biggest exposed boob” and “spot the cutest dad with a baby” and “spot the ugliest item for sale” and “spot the woman with the most unsuitable pair of shoes for spending a day at the fair” and “spot the first couple that you see who are both sporting butt cracks or muffin tops” and “spot the first person you see that is missing a front tooth and wearing a purple suede fringed vest” and “spot the best examle of the shortest skirt on the oldest woman” and “spot the most sunburned couple that also happen to be wearing matching outfits.” This game provides hours of fun.
This year, my friend won the game when she found one family that met the criteria for all of the categories!
BBQ’d turkey drumsticks and rides with the grand-kids, great looking at the world through a three year old’s eye.
Corn on the Cob from the grill, still in husk, with butter!
Haunted houses, giant pretzels and arcade machines. Arcades are pretty dead these days though, unless it’s some dance rhythm game. Also back in the day, getting in and out of the grounds to smoke a joint and then tripping out in the Ferris wheel was pretty sweet. Haven’t been to a fair forever though. Not aside from our local one here, with their cheap rides and beer garden which specialize in imported beers. It’s where ah hangs, mangs.
