Why do I sweat a lot?

Asked by notready2 (10points) July 20th, 2011

Water runs down my back even when I am not doing strenuous activity. I have always been this way and when running I would be wet from head to toe literally. Is this normal? I can walk a distance as short as a block (winter or summer) and feel water running down my back. What can I do, if anything?

The name of what you are experiencing is hyperhidrosis.

Most of the people I have known in my family to have this condition also have a thyroid condition. If it were me @notready2, I’d discuss this with my physician.

Do you do a lot of physical activity? When your body gets used to doing really strenuous activity, it will sometimes try to kick it in early so as to beat you to the punch.

Maybe don’t believe me. I read that on Cracked

You might have a higher basal metabolism, which by the way is perfectly normal.

Try wearing wet scarf or something similar around your neck, as soon as you come out of the shower.

To continue. ...that way the body doesn’t have a chance to get hot.
-the scarf won’t drip if it is squeezed well enough, and you tuck in the ends that takes care of it.
-you remove the scarf, regularly, before it has a chance to get dry, let the air touch it, and put it on again.

If you have to wear suits or similar for work, I suppose it wouldn’t work, but for around the house…

Maybe the answers in this would help.
