Can you only use Microft Office 2010 on one of your computers?

Asked by marialisa (464points) July 20th, 2011

Also, if my computer becomes inoperable, can I use it on a different one in future?

You can install it on multiple computers. I know that each key has a set number of times that you can install it before having to buy a new one, but I think it’s around 30 (totally guessing, though). I’ve installed my Office (not 2010) maybe 10–15 times as I went through new computers and clean reinstalls.

1)
If you bought a retail copy of Office (meaning it was not already installed when you bought your computer, you bought it later), you can install on two machines.

And yes, you can install on a new machine. It may take a phone call to Microsoft to explain that the old machine is dead.

2)
If you have an OEM version, (shipped with a new PC), or your PC came with a free limited trial version, and you purchased a license, your license is limited to that PC.

Or, you can just install a copy of open office for free that pretty much does all of the same stuff you want out of an office suite.

Does Microsoft Office have Powerpoint and Excel?

Aethelflaed's avatar

@marialisa Yes. Microsoft Office comes with Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Word, Publisher, and sometimes Outlook.

Open Office has an application called Calc that is the equivalent of Excel as well as a presentation application equivalent to Powerpoint as well as all of the other bells and whistles that most of us need, and best of all it’s free.

Office includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint,

Also, some editions include OneNote, Access, Publisher and Outlook.

Wikipedia has a good chart of the different editions and their content
