What do you think of having 1 minute to cancel a posting in Fluther?

Asked by flo (13313points) July 24th, 2011

You can flag it, but what if you wanted it off immediately? I wanted to cancel this
because:
1) of the visible glitch
2) the absence of the word “don’t” in Don’t click on the image…” in the posted version. It was in the answer box. I posted it I reposted it but the word “don’t” still wouldn’t show up.

You can edit your posts for up to 10 minutes, I believe.

If I am correct you have several minutes to edit it anyway and if that still isn’t enough you can always contact a mod and ask to pull the question altogether.

I tried to edit it but the flaw stayed. I mean the word ” don’t” refused to be included, and I did flag it, and wrote to mod. but I prefer to have the “cancel” if it is urgent enough.
I suppose I could have just removed the link, now that I think of it.

I think it would be nice; in some cases my (and other people’s) comments just end up looking like [Removed by me] because I wrote something stupid and no amount of editing can fix it; however doing that is a perfectly easy solution and I don’t expect any technical changes to take place now that the guys are working for Twitter.

It’s not a bad idea, but most people just do what @Mariah says. By editing, they either delete the whole answer (leaving a blank ‘answer’) or write something like “removed by me”. I just signed on, saw your flag, and have removed that answer for you.

Or the other more comical approach (which I should have used several times today) is to post another comment saying how you screwed up the last one from above. Today, I can’t seem to type in my words correctly and it looks like I don’t know how to spell. I must need to clean my reading glasses too, because I don’t realize the mistake until it’s too late to edit. : (

I’m all for it.
The inability to remove what I’ve written is one of the things that I dislike about Fluther, and there aren’t many.
Plus, it seems like it would be less work for the mods.

As @Mariah and @augustlan pointed out I’ll go for delete the text and replace with Removed by me.
