I just cannot get into The Flaming Lips.
Ani Difranco is great. My wife is a fan, I have been exposed to a ton of her music. Love her guitar playing.
@tom_g I love her lyrics. It’s her voice/style of singing that makes me want to ram corn on the cob holders in my ears.
The Fray
All their songs sound the same, I don’t like the lead singer’s voice, I don’t care for the subject of the songs, it just all sucks :)
Also: Slipknot and Slayer. I don’t understand the appeal of these bands at all. I have not heard a single song by either of them that is even remotely good.
Okay, I wouldn’t usually come back I a thread like this to say that someone elses answer is false, i mean, who am I to judge, but @Sunny2…, that really is below the belt :-)
Elvis is good, he really is.
Would I have my account deleted from Fluther if I admit that I do not like the Beatles?
@8Convulsions – This position (dislike of Nickleback) should be a prerequisite for the right to vote.
I thought everyone hated Nickelback.
Linkin Park.
Whatever the heck the name of Fred Durst’s band is. I hate them so much that I can’t even remember what they’re called.

@rebbel – not sure if you are kidding or not. Every asshole with a guitar or an iPod loves the damn Beatles. I don’t get it, and I dislike their shitty music.
@ANef_is_Enuf I don’t care for Linkin Park either. And yeah, pretty much everyone hates Nickelback. According to my brother, the Big 4 Hated Bands are Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, Insane Clown Posse, and Creed.
Aha! Limp Bizkit. That’s it. Everyone I know likes them, but yeeeesh. I can’t figure it out. Horrible.
Why does everyone hate Nickleback? I like them :(
Look at this photograph…..everytime I see it makes me laugh…....
I’m also not a fan of the Beatles, it’s a little too happy-hippy-time for me lol.
@tom_g – Haha! I couldn’t agree with you more.
@rebbel No, he really is NOT. If you are going to sing a song, you need to make the words understandable, otherwise don’t sing it, just sing scat syllables. He sang ballads better, but I still didn’t like him. Just not to my taste.
@Sunny2 my mom hates Elvis, too, if it makes you feel better.
The guy from Nickelback, he sings as though he is doing his best to squeeze out a huge log.
And, they’re from Canada (like myself). Sorry, folks.
another vote for Lady Gaga
AC/DC
Metallica
Tom Petty
Steve Miller
The Eagles
There are actually people who like Ke$ha? ::shudders::
There’s at least one song I like by many artists. Except Ke$ha. Not one thing of hers I’ve heard do I like. I’d have to think about others.
Steely Dan sounds like elevator jazz and Michael Fagin has the worst whining male voice ever His voice is kind of like the musical version of Woody Allen’s personality.
Bjork. Her screetching, braying and yelping make me think of banshees and demons and donkeys and nails on a chalkboard.
Alanis Morrisette ^^ see above.
Tori Amos just has a dreadful voice. And I end up feeling very depressed whenever I hear her.
Michael McDonald. His voice sounds very forced and constipated.
Elton John His voice used to sound like a very fake forced twangy southern accent. It has mellowed with age though.
The White Stripes. Jack White’s voice makes me cringe and his wife/sister/whatever’s drumming is the worst in recorded history (but they are cute).
Frank Sinatra. His phrasing always feels like he is one or two beats off and it makes me feel like my brain is tripping (as in tripping like when you are walking and you trip).
Ben Folds Five That dude’s voice sounds like a tone deaf kid who was desperate to start a garage band. Everything is over enunciated in a valley girl kind of way, that is hard to even describe.
Shudders
That’s the one yeah, Kanye West .What a jack ass
The Beatles do nothing for me.
I can’t stand The Fray, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Nickelback, or just about any other generic top 40 rock band or singer/songwriter outfit.
I hate Bob Marley and AC/DC because they are literally the only musicians that my school cafeteria blasts on a regular basis over the speakers… over and over again every day.
@woodcutter yeah, he is a jack ass…and thats being nice.
Rihanna
Justin Bieber
Jason Derulo
Kanye West
Rebecca Black
I can’t stand U2, as well.
Add U2 and Bob Dylan to my list as well. And the Doors.
It’s easy to see age groups here, fascinating.
Janis Joplin
Cher
Billy Joel
U2
Green Day
Kanye West
Coldplay
Maroon 5
...
This may surprise some, but, Evanescence. Also, Phil Collins sucks.
@filmfann D’: I freaking love Tom Petty. But then again that’s the point of the question!
Almost all top 40s rock from the late 90s and early 2000’s. Especially acts like Limp Bizkit, Matchbox 20, Godsmack, and Creed. Maybe those don’t all belong together, but I don’t care. It’s like nails on a freaking chalkboard.
Also when they play stuff like Dave Matthews Band at Irish pubs. It’s like a bunch of suburban gen-exers just want to relive their glory days. I know I’m being too harsh, but that’s just how I feel.
Anyone else says AC/DC and I’ll get a hitman on your ass.
@Kardamom: “Steely Dan sounds like elevator jazz”
I could not agree more. I could sleep 12 hours, consume a whole pot of coffee, and still slip into a coma if I hear more than 5 seconds of Steely Dan. It has that “I’m sick and dehydrated and might not pull through” vibe.
Bono
Sting
Westlife
Boyzone
Take That (with and without Robbie Williams)
I’ll be back to this thread, my mind has gone blank!
OH!
Michael Jackson. How I didn’t think to use that first is beyond me. That’s a biggun’.
Guns n’ roses.
These excerpts from One in a million are some reasons why:
“Police and niggers
That’s right
Get out of my way”
“Immigrants and faggots
They make no sense to me
They come to our country
And think they’ll do as they please
Like start some mini Iran
Or spread some fucking disease”
@Brian1946 woah. I LOVE GnR, but I have never heard that song. That’s distressing.
Yeah, I’m a huge G’N’R fan. Just not that particular song. I haven’t listened to it in years.
@josie Ouch, wasn’t expecting that.
@ANef_is_Enuf I think I know how you feel. I actually like the melody, rhythm, and chord progression of OIAM, but those lyrics keep me from enjoying it.
@woodcutter I think everyone my age is supposed to practically worship U2.
