What is an interesting situation or moment that happened in your life?

Asked by QueenOfNowhere (1871points) July 27th, 2011

When I was just 13 I heard a dog scream every night… I was so curious and upset. I wanted to know what was going on, so I decided to follow the sound one night. Then I found a tortured dog covered with blood.. I immediately brought him to the vet and they did some surgeries… I can never forget the look on his eyes… He was grateful.

@QueenOfNowhere that is a horribly sad tale; and I’m so thankful you took action. My god!

I’ve got plenty of sad stories in my bag, but I’ll provide a humorous (and possibly interesting) moment. Right out of college, I was interviewing for an admin asst position. I’m female, and the man who was interviewing me saw my Phi Beta Kappa key pinned to my jacket. He actually asked me if I was wearing my husband’s PBK key. WTF???? I replied, “No, but I’m wearing my husband’s underwear.” I didn’t get the job (thank goodness).

Poor dog :( :( Was he okay after the surgeries?

Interesting moment or situation? I don’t know. It was very interesting and sweet when I bought my first pet. I mean the first real one. She was a small brown bunny, she was very beautiful and cute. I cried a lot when she died :( :(
Another very interesting moment in my life was when I went to my first real concert. It was awesome.

It involves my mom killing my dad and after three months of running from the cops and landing in Mexico when I was ten. Then mom eventually decided to turn herself in. It is pretty hard to pick any single experience from that to pinpoint. Four hours of interrogation and being fingerprinted was rough. Walking into to school to learn that you made the front page of the local paper was rough. Sleeping in the back of a GMC Jimmie in the parking lot of a supermarket in Pittsburgh while running from the cops was a good experience too. At least we had a cold can of ravioli to share between three people.

It is hard to pick a single thing. And it even gets worse. That is the shit I can type without crying. And also why I hate questions like, “Does he like me?”

I was a teen running through an airport in the midwest, trying to catch my connecting flight which was about to leave without me. From the side I heard a man call out my biological last name and as I stopped to look around, a man and 2 girls stepped forward. They looked at me like I was an alien and asked if I knew the name they had called out to which I replied I did, it was the last name of the biological father I’d never known. The man said he was my father’s brother and gave me his phone number quickly. I’ll never forget the excitement of the flight, thinking I’d just discovered a missing link to my who whole life. It got better from there, a happy ending at least.

Hmm, I went 2 months without eating when I was 17. I was on IV nutrition, but took in almost nothing by mouth for 2 months. It was very odd feeling. You don’t realize how much your mental state depends on eating until you go without it for a while. I felt like it brought out some weird animalistic instincts. I consider this a fairly unique perspective as not many people have experienced going without food for so long and have lived to talk about it.

The IV site got infected at the end of the two months and I almost died. That was an interesting experience as well.

Oh wow, well, as is true for everyone, life has many outstanding moments, good and bad.

One interesting one for me was reconnecting with my high school crush 25 years after our romance and rekindling it, hotter than ever, for several years, until work and geography got in the way.

Others have been lots of sychronistic events from finding the perfect house here a few years ago and many other coincidental happenings.

Rape at age 6. Falling down a manhole and being stuck for hours at age 4. etc…

Actually falling in love instead of lusting over (took 7–8 years to figure out, silly me, too late now). Saving my ex (wasn’t my ex then) from falling from the top of a stadium. etc…

@King_Pariah you got raped? It’s interesting how lots of people are raped. I never knew it until people actually started talking to me.

@QueenOfNowhere shit happens, people are just as easily despicable as they are noble, cowardly as they are brave, etc.

We were performing a show in a prison. And two of my friends were not paying attention to what we were suppose to do. One was yawning and another one was looking outside when it was their turn to perform. I had to improvise a lot and to bring them back into their lines. It was awful. They didn’t do what they were supposed to do and in the end I was the one blamed because ” you shouldn’t improvise that much ”. I never told anyone it wasn’t my fault but in the end we laughed about this over a pizza and some drinks.
