Other than family dates (birthdays, anniversaries, graduations…etc.), Moreso, what is a date in history that you will always remember? and Why?

The first one where my now fiancee took me out of town for a few days to a mountain resort and then onto an old fashioned steam train which toured us around the mountain and surrounding valleys. We both think back on those few days as when we fell in love with the idea of each other. It’s our go-to spot now for alone time.
9/11 – I’ll never forget where I was. I was at JROTC in the US Army. As soon as we saw the devastation and death toll all of us knew we were going to war. (we were deployed to combat in under 3 months after 9/11)
It was about the only “date” date I ever had. I.e., I didn’t know her before hand and I asked her out because she was pretty. She had come to my house to interview for a position as house-mate. We decided she wasn’t a good fit, but I asked her out and she accepted.
We met in a bar—a first for me. I got there early and got into a conversation with the woman next to me, and things were getting to the point of “let’s go do something” when my date walked in.
I don’t remember what we did. Maybe we had dinner. At some point I must have told her that I was already in a relationship with a woman who believed in free love. As I drove my date home, she said she wasn’t comfortable dating someone who was already involved. And that was that. My one and only real date.
I mostly remember random dates and things with no particular fond memory that is worth something. I can’t really explain. I remember a lot of random facts that occurred on particular dates but I never understood why I keep remembering them. I can tell you what I ate a few years ago but I don’t remember now what I ate yesterday morning. But after a few years I remember exactly what I ate in that particular date but I do not remember recent facts. This is good for me sometimes but I do forget a lot of activities I have to do.
The day my father passed away, it was now 25 years ago and I remember every little thing as if it were yesterday… right down to what we were watching on tv at the time when the nightmare of the night began.
On a happier note would also be each day I had one of my daughters brought into my life because it was so wonderful to have each one in my life.
Deaths and one that I’m pretty private about.
There are three girls in my life who I have loved intensely at different times, and I will never forget any of their birthdays.
August 12th wont say why though! ;)
