LADIES- What makes you "feel like a girl"?
I just bought a new dress and pretty shoes for the first time in several years. Instead of feeling like a frumpy mom, I’m feeling very “girly” right now, and I like it!

A nice pedi & mani.
A fun new hair style.
Getting a break away from my home for a few hours.
Taking a walk on the beach.
A nice new dress always makes me feel girlish.
I hate most girly stuff. Although, I do love getting a pedicure. I hate clothe shopping, yet, I like to dress nice. I wear make-up. I don’t get into the designer clothes and hand bag shit.
I like to wear make-up, dress nice, have pretty toe nails, then, I like to change out of my girly garb, put on some shorts and a t-shirt and go outside and get dirty.
Who wants to be my personal shopper? :)
Putting on make-up. I don’t do it that often now that I’m retired.
A (rare) great bra that makes “the girls” look perky and fabulous!
Also open toed sandals and a silver ankle bracelet.
When I have on hair extensions
Go shopping or overall just buy anything fashion or beauty related
Paint my nails
And when I feel pretty.
Nothing. Several things make me feel like a woman though.
Making me a sandwich in the kitchen? (proceeds to hide in fallout shelter).
Tailored suits with a pair of stilettos and target practice does it for me.
Ladies, funny isn’t it how these answers mainly are about appearance or emotional breaks we give ourselves. Take a look at how sexual gratification is common on the counterpart
Boys. sigh…. gotta love ‘em.
@Blueroses They are hilarious.
Part of @cockswain’s answer—where he built a shed”, that makes me feel like a woman! I just did the same thing, and then I painted it and added pretty details. ;)
Manicures
Makeup
New haircuts
Curly hair
Dresses
Do-me heels
Lip gloss
Binge eating chocolate and potato chips
Pretty smelling soaps
@redfeather I like “do-me heels” too, but I can’t wear them because they make my feet cry. =0)
High heels and nail polish.
Getting together with my college girlfriends, then giggling and laughing for hours at end!
Did anyone say do me heels? Thought I heard it…
Add perfumes, and body lotions to my list. I like to smell good. :)
Fresh cut flowers (I saw Seelix’s post), and smelly candles.
Attention from a cute boy. Or even a compliment about any of my physical feature.
Freshly-shaved legs, a dress and cute shoes.
Cut flowers.
Fruity martinis on a patio with a friend.
I hate chick flicks. Watching Sex in the City, for me, well, I would rather rip off my eyelids.
@Blueroses I was comparing the threads, too, and did notice that women are predominantly talking about appearance and presentation.
However I think there is more to the male thread than just sex. A lot more. I think men talk about what they do a lot more. They feel like a man when they do manly things (whatever those are). Sex is a manly thing, but there are a lot of other manly things, too.
For the women, I’m wondering if anyone has an explanation why so many of you talk about appearance rather than actions.
@Jude I’m with on you on the Sex in the City… also hate Grey’s Anatomy… with a passion.
@Blueroses just as an FYI I said a bj makes me feel manly, not because I derive sexual/physical gratification from it ( I do, but I didn’t say masturbating).
There is some ineffable manly feeling about making eye contact with a woman enthusiastically doing that. I will butt back out of the girl thread. Sorry.
I said do-me heels. I have my prized pair of Louboutins still in their bags and in their box in my closet. I need to wear them. They’re so sexy.
Massage
Mani/Pedi
Wearing perfume
My hair freshly done
Wearing jewelry
Dresses
Drinking Daquiris
Wearing pretty lingerie
*My guy- he gets a kick out my girlie side and totally encourages it.
@wundayatta I think both questions are really asking “What makes you feel confident?” Since this Q was worded for “feel like a girl” I’m not going to get all serious and political about the answers. For your question though, it is a matter of action. Of taking an action to do something for ourselves that makes us feel attractive and confident.
Not all of these answers are nail polish and glitter. Not all the men’s answers are bj’s and groping. They are parts of us and we’re answering within the boundaries of the questions.
Nothing wrong with feeling “girly” or “manly”.
Watching and talking football with my guy. ;)
I really don’t know how to answer this.
My coy smile?
Make up, hair, and clothing that shows my figure.
Pics or it never happened, y’all.
Interesting stuff. Nothing makes me feel like a girl. That’s kind of how I began to explore gender non-conformity.
A flower in my hair.
A lingering stare from a guy that doesn’t realize right away that he has a dopey, starstruck look on his face.
Glow in the dark plastic/rubber skulls! :D
Giving birth
Being pregnant
Breastfeeding
Lipstick
Stockings and heels
My hair flowing and bouncing when I walk
A pretty dress that shows my womanly figure
A certain look in a man’s eyes
I love the feeling of a fresh new hair-do (or even a tidy up of a current hair-do). I also love wearing lipgloss because I find it flatters my fairly full pout. A great fitting, sexy bra makes me glad to be a girl too. YAY for boobs!
@Leanne1986 Always willing to second the YAY for boobs.
Boobs are great! Most of the time.
@King_Pariah Sorry. redfeather and I are buds and I’m way overprotective. Not that they need it. Just an instinct.
I prefer a luscious booty.
@Leanne1986 I’ve seen a picture of those pouty lips. Very sexy.
Being around girls makes me feel like a girl… I’m not around girls as much as people think I should.
@Jude You always make me feel good :)
