Do I have rosacea?

Asked by blueberry_kid (5957points) July 28th, 2011

My face has all these tiny little bumps on my cheeks. It isn’t acne because it doesn’t hurt and it isn’t huge. But its about a million little bumps on my cheeks and they’re red. I tried using Neutragena and attempted Proactive, and they never worked. I gets really red during the winter time and even redder when I’m playing volleyball and sweating and I’m hot.

Is this a skin condition that will go away? Is it genetic, even though niether of my parents have it? Should I talk to a dermatoligist?

Only a doctor can diagnose it.

Please see your family doctor and see if he refers you to a dermatologist.

You might be overdrying your skin. Or, some sort of heat rash. Hard to know. I think a dermatologist appointment is a good idea.

If it is, use Prosacea gel. It’s pretty cheap and has good reviews. I haven’t been officially diagnosed, but I’m pretty positive I have Rosacea. I’ve been using Prosacea for a month or so, and I’ve noticed a big improvement. Also, try Eucerin Redness Relief lotion. Its green color helps neutralize the red. The sun, alcohol and really rough facial scrubs are some things that make it flare up. From what I’ve read, there’s not much you can do, but treat it. There’s no complete cure.

Stress did that to me for a few years, also hormonal changes can affect your complexion. You need to see a doctor before it gets worse. This will cover it while you take care of it. Nothing else worked for me at the time.

It doesn’t sound like rosacea, but it seems like something I have on my scalp that gets worse when heat is present. I also have excema, even though it’s never gotten bumpy. I’d go to a doctor, but make sure you mention the heat having a part in it!
