What's wrong with Google?
I now know I’m not the only jelly with this issue. I’ve tried Googling today, only to run across a ton of spam.
Has Google been hacked? Did they sell out?

Can you give an example search term?
I’m on Yahoo at the moment to avoid the google spam. @tom_g it was when I was looking up images/articles for the trade center question posted by @Simone. Simone was having the same issue. I tried again with Da Vinci earlier and was flooded by spam.
I tried on both explorer and FF, thinking it was a FF issue. It’s not for me.
Not really understanding the term “google spam”. I was just wondering if you had a search term I could try. For example, “9/11 museum”. I’m not getting any unusual behavior.
Search terms would have been “trade center cross” “trade center star david” and the like. The spam was ridiculous.
I’m looking at the results of “trade center cross” and I don’t understand what you mean by “spam”.
Maybe it’s fixed @tom_g. I just checked “Star David Trade Center” and got actual results.
What I meant by spam? The results were all things to buy, not articles.
Seems to be working fine for me
I have been goggling all day. running a search on google is not going to create SPAM
Spam is unwanted unsolicited email? Do you mean spamdexing?
What’chu talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?
@blueiiznh I was using the word spam as in web search spam. Even my computer geek husband knew what I was talking about…and he is uber literal. ;) He was at work and couldn’t answer my question
Ok, stab in the dark: Google, the actual google page, looks fine. However, when you click a link, you don’t go to that page, but rather get redirected towards some other spammy type of site, perhaps another search engine?
@Aethelflaed Yes. It was ridiculous before 2pm CST today. Also, the search would not bring up articles, but places selling things. I recall one search bringing up thee items on Amazon at the top of the search…again it was for “World Trade Center” info.
@SpatzieLover Congratulations!!!! You have the Google Redirect Virus! It’s extra awesome as viruses go, because all the virus removal programs can’t reliably remove it. I had it about a month ago, and had to reinstall my entire operating system. Yay!
@Aethelflaed Thanks for the diagnosis. I will allow my husband to repair my laptop when he comes home. sh$!
@Aethelflaed oh fux didnt even think about that. I had that issue as well a while ago. I got rid of it by just doing a restore to about a month previous.
