What should I paint?
I love to paint but I’m not exactly sure what I want to paint. Any ideas?

When I started painting I went through a bunch of old National Geographic magazines and picked interesting pictures from there.
My lawn furniture could use a fresh coat of enamle ans I would even let you pick the color!
Our entire interior minus one room needs a complete overhaul. C’mon over!
What would you like to express? How you feel about a sunny day, how green the grass is, a heartbreak, love of a pet or person, wanting something good to eat? What is on your mind right now? Paint that!
@chyna i’m feeling rebellious and pissed off at people close to me,sort of mistreated. How should i express that?
You should paint a dragon being ridden by a 6 headed naked lady, and each of her heads is drinking a milkshake, and each milkshake is on fire, and the smoke from the fire is turning into butterflies which are pooping on a city that’s made of jell-o, and everyone that lives there has some sort of darkly comical deformity.
Yes, paint that…
A vase of flowers by a window.
@cliofaye, what color is anger? What is its shape? How loud is it? How big?
I see anger in storm clouds. But I’m not an artist.
@Jeruba i guess it could be anything deep in color or red possibly? It’s shape would be sharp. It’s as long as a scream and as big as my anger.
I’m awfully fond of paintings of roads or paths that disappear into the distance or undergrowth. I’m also fond of doorways that open into other scenes.
That’s what you paint, @cliofaye. It does not have to be pictorial or symbolic. It can just be expressive, you know?
Paint that anger really well, and I promise you you’ll feel better afterward.
It could just be something like a beat up, dented bucket tossed aside in the yard.
The mystery tree in the middle of your street.
Work entirely on impulse. Just pick up that brush and let the paint hit the canvas. Use colors that “match” how you feel. Music helps too. The whole process can be very cathartic.
Landscapes are the best thing for me to paint or photograph. If you’re having a rough time with friends and family, going out to look at nature, and then painting it, might get your mind off of all of that. Are there any beautiufl places around you? Parks, mountains, lakes, rivers, oceans, wheat fields, canyons, stone outcroppings? If not, get yourself some good travel mags like Arizona highways or something similar and just find some landscapes that you like.
a tree! ...Is this THE tree?
OMG! @cliofaye That is fantastic!!! Do you do illustrations, professionally? I could easily see this on the cover of a book or a CD. It’s beautiful and makes me think of Halloween. What kind of paint did you use? Did you paint on paper or a canvas?
I can’t tell you how much I love this! Keep up the good work!
@Kardamom Thank you very much:D And no i do not,i’m only 16 but i draw and paint and all that. I used acrylic on a canvas:) i’m going to do two more for winter and spring
@cliofaye , Nice Work! keep it spontaneous- A_R_T_ risks getting boring if it becomes too technical and planned.
@cliofaye Very nicely done! Very expressive…dramatic! I likey!
