Here! I’ve spent my morning on Borderlands and my new magnificent monolith of a Bible. Sure, it has footnotes. And study notes. And archaeological notes. And historical notes. And maps. And a concordance. And a glossary. And an index. And the tables of weights and measures. And it’s formatted in single-column instead of double. All in all, this baby weighs about five pounds. It’s awesome!

Where are the donuts? I was told there would be donuts…

I also heard or read something about MilkShakes.

Nice summer. We’ve had a few very hot days but mostly idyllic Northern California weather, with cool enough nights to keep a blanket close by. We even had one great rippin’ rainstorm. That happens about once per summer, and people always act astonished, as if they didn’t remember the one last year and the year before.

Here whenever I’m at work with computer access to help long long shifts pass gently.

Haha…alive and kicking on Tuesday over here too. Going out soon to make a deposit at my bank, so the bills don’t bounce. lol

Had a conflagration at work regarding the televisor. Turns out that, as a book reader, my opinion is worthless in the minds of most TV watchers. Fortunately, I had already gotten management’s sympathy (see, they’re really big on mutual respect in the workplace, and I was being grossly disrespected, and I said as much), and I didn’t behave too outrageously in the first place; I think I came out ahead.
I was sickened at the way that people rushed to oppose me.

One of the main counters is that I could go sit somewhere else, like outside where it’s 104 degrees, or in the cafe` where it’s even louder than the break room. Since about ⅔ of my co-workers are black (and I am not), I was thinking about replying with “How ‘bout we make you ride in the back of the bus, then, too?” but I wasn’t sure how it would go over. I understand that it’s not valid in any kind of logical way; this would be a purely emotional jab.
Suggestions? Comments?

@picante I tried those today. They only block about 30db, which will bring the pesky tele-voices down to an annoying background murmur. Until Kim in Grocery decides that it simply isn’t loud enough.
@SpatzieLover I only have 30 minutes’ break. Just getting to my car takes five. Besides which, I shouldn’t have to leave. It’s my break room as much as anybody else’s.

I have become thoroughly anti-democracy, as a result of this. Just because I’m the only one that’s vocal about caring doesn’t mean that I ought to be ignored.

A minority is a minority. There aren’t favored minorities and disfavored minorities. You, @Nullo, are a member of a minority in your workplace situation and are entitled to the consideration that any other minority gets. And every minority member of the group ought to be backing you on principle.

Unfortunately this may be one of those situations (like the baby in the King Solomon story) where a halfway measure doesn’t suit anyone. How about a compromise such as (a) keep the TV to a reasonable—agreed-upon—maximum volume at all times and (b) one day a week, turn it off during your lunch break?

5:31 pm now on this Tuesday. Havin’ a couple of icey cold Tsingtao beers, stir frying some cabbage and rice with orange chicken takeout and, it’s smokin’ HOT, the geese are playing in the sprinklers. A fine Tuesday it is. :-D

I had SO much fun last night, had a Happy brownie and re-arranged my entire house til 1:30 am! lol Then, lit a candle and blissed out in my hot tub while the candle under a dome holder with designs, made cool patterns on the plants and wall of my garage on the patio. Sublime evening!

10 k race tomorrow morning. Haven’t been training properly because of a sore knee (I know, what a wuss) so I have decided to not try for a new PB time wise. I am going to do a run 3 min, walk briskly 1 min for the duration. Since it starts at 6.:45, that should get me in before dusk, heheheh, and will give me another notch on my belt! Course if you don’t hear from me next week, you will know I went into cardiac arrest, hehehe!!!

I am exhausted this morning. Kicked major booty around my house all weekend, re-arranged, cleaned, did tons of yard stuff, washed my car and stayed up til almost 2 am last night enjoying my space. Hurricane Coloma breezes through.

fun weekend so far

7:11 pm in California, nice warm evening coming on, Coloma is extremely tired, she is going to bed at sunset. lol

8/12 went on a 30-mile bike ride, after about a year of no biking whatsoever. My backside says that it forgives me, but I think it’s still holding a grudge. It wouldn’t have been so bad if not for the fact that this was a rental bike with a seat that was angled in a most uncomfortable manner -fixable with that Allen wrench that I never carry around anymore.

8/13 Went to work, learned that the guy on the previous shift had called off, and the new guy that I was to be training (and who would have been handling a fair portion of the workload) was no longer eligible for the position. And that Pilgrim’s Pride not only failed to truss my 400+ chickens properly, but also failed to use the right gauge string: an almost unprecedented 31 birds broke from the spits as they (and their thin little trussing strings) cooked. Another 5 or so were saved by prompt intervention.

On the seventh day, I hope to rest.

Note to self: start carrying that Allen wrench again.

Sunday morning, 8:34 am
The new cat ripped through the screen in her bedroom last night, weaseled out of the ripped corner and woke me howling under my bedroom window on the deck, perched on top of the patio couch. rolling eyes

Sooo, I fixed the window, for now, by wedging a metal wall sculpture into the frame to obstruct the rip in the corner.

Cats!

Then, decided, WTF and let the new kitty wander around the yard with me while my other cat sat on a log in the ravine below my deck glaring at her territory being invaded.

The intros. have not been going well, so, we shall see.
If the girls don’t blend, my daughter will take the new one.

Well, I am pleased the intensity of my cat renovations is amusing you.
I am not amused in the moment. lol
Dasy started out on a slightly encouraging note between the two, but then…
a knock down drag out cat fight under my bed awhile ago, with the new cat going beserk and leaping vertically to attack my other cat that I was holding. Thought the $55 worth of on ‘sale’ cat pheromones was helping, just blew THAT all to hell.
I dunno! :-/

I am finding your descriptions of cat mayhem quite amusing :D This too will pass @Coloma.

Tuesday morning. Off to work soon. The dogs are asleep on my feet. I think they think it is a stay home day. Soon I will disappoint them.

@Coloma Maybe not as amused as intrigued. I enjoy the shared trials and tribulations of others who rescue animals. I actually applaude you for your efforts.
