No, if we find you, we will call you out…...
Just kidding (although I shouldn’t have to say that…) How is anyone going to know who you are?
It is public. It will come up in google searches if you search for the right things.
But unless you post a picture or give identifying information, no one will know who you are in “real life.”
Anything you write here, whether in public or private, can be seen by the people who run the place.
Your identity can not be known unless you tell someone, although the people who run the place can look up what your IP address is. Once you set up an account, there’s nothing you can do about that.
If you want to keep something truly private, do not put it anywhere on fluther. Or any other website for that matter. The feds can make the web sites cough up anything you write if they want to.
The moderators here are allowed to investigate issues that take place in private messages. They can not read the pms, but Augustlan can. So treat people nicely in private just as you do in public. There won’t be any trouble.
Nothing on the internet is ever truly confidential.
Not confidential, but somewhat anonymous.
(great title for my next book)
You can use the PM feature to protect it a little but anything you put on the web isn’t really confidential.
OMG! You’ve got to be kidding!! lol! But you’ll get pretty solid advice on good questions and a pretty solid thrashing on goofball questions!
I promise, whatever you decide to share with us on Fluther I will not post to my Twitter account, make my status on Facebook, mention on my LinkedIn page, tell my family, gossip with my friends, email strangers, or make into flyers and post them around town!
Your secrets are safe with me;)
Haha Thanks?
I didnt mean private between only certain people on the site. I meant if i asked any personal questions would anyone be able to tell who i was. But now i know. Thank you kind strangers. lol
@confuzzlement There are 2 other strategies jellies use here. One is to say how you have a friend who wants to know what ever it is you need to ask and that way you are covered! The other is to open another account and then ask your question about your friend who wants to know how to clear up that rash in their nether regions!
See my profile for how to ask me for advice in a more confidential manner.
Since most people ask question and they start with ” I have a friend who .. ” you can’t really know when it’s about him/her or about someone else.
But if you want things to remain a secret just don’t give details to others.
