What makes you come back to a blog and keep reading it?
What is it that popular blogs have that keep people coming back and reading them? What makes a blog good? What are some examples of good blogs, and why do you like those particular blogs?

1. Interest. If a blog has high-quality, interesting posts on a topic I care about, I go back.
2. Interest – see above.
3. Interest – see above.
4. Damninteresting; 3QuarksDaily
—-> Damninteresting was, basically, really interesting. No politics or any other bullshit; just high-interest stories on a very wide range of topics aimed at the educated layman. It was (is) brilliant material for “general” B1+ ESOL classes.
—-> 3 Quarks Daily goes through phases of brilliance, alternating with mundanity/crap that I have no interest in. Its strength lies in having a staff of several (at least) bloggers that basically make it worth my while to access the site at least once a week.
Nothing, apparently. I very rarely go back to a blog unless someone links me to a particular article in it that I’m interested in.
Almost nothing. I have visited a couple of blogs more than once for info they linked or photos/videos they shared.
I don’t enjoy reading blogs. They are somewhat of a personal thing. If people want to publish their memoires then they should do it in a book format. Anyway a journal is something one should not try to share or else it won’t be one.
And if it’s about information then they can be posted in formats similar to a newspaper and not end up a blog.
People say they read my blog because I’m doing what they wish they were doing in their twenties (working as a street musician with my accordion). But that’s only like my aunts. Next question: how do you get strangers to find your blog?
@sliceswiththings That’s so cool. I’d read it.
The only blog I go back to again and again is Hyperbole and a Half. Her manic drawings and hyperactive stories about childhood make me laugh my ass off because they’re so true.
I’ve seen suggestions that having regular, medium sized posts will get you the most repeat views and overall views. Which means my blog fails. :P
If something resonates with me, I’ll check it out again. If it happens again, I’ll continue to check it out. I like Gala Darling I find her inspirational, creative, fresh and fun.
@incendiary_dan I just checked out your blog. I dig it. I couldn’t figure out how to subscribe though.
Content is king. Good writing that informs/teaches me of new things that I’m interested in are fantastic. Blogs that take forever to get to the point, contain lots of fluff, or talk about trivial personal details are obnoxious.
e.g. “Today I ate a delicious cheeseburger from…” who cares? <clicks back button>
I tend to read blogs that make me laugh. If they’re too “woes me” I find myself getting very bored.
