Can I make a suggestion?

When making a 10K, 20K, etc. post, could the poster please put the name of the jelly in the question to make it easier to find? One jelly got 3 parties today because the party wasn’t immediately clear in the first post.

Yeah, true. That could be a cool idea. Something like, Can you guess who reached teh mentionz? (Mister X)
I suppose that would defeat the purpose of asking a question, but they’re only posted as questions because it’s a rule. They’re not really questions, so I think that’s a good idea.
Isn’t putting a jellies name in a post a no-no? I did it once and got modded. I think you just have to give obvious hints in the question itself
I’ve included the names of the jellies I threw parties for in the question itself. It was fine.
And yeah, I threw a party or two as well by mistake, not knowing their party had already been thown by someone else. I think your suggestion makes sense.
@redfeather Oh yeah, I forgot about that lol. It might pass for this particular idea though.
@Symbeline yes, maybe a little rule bending for our shin digs
I’ve always thought this would be a great idea. You can barely tell by the title of some of the questions that they are even party threads.
I don’t agree. Having to include the name would restrict one’s creativity.
Don’t everyone include the name in the title? It would be like handing out an Oscar and not saying who got it, just their character from the movie.
@Hypocrisy_Central No, one of the 10K party today says “Who knows how it’s done?” I had no idea that was a 10K party. I’m not criticizing, just saying that it should be more evident from the title that it’s a 10K, 20K, etc, party.
Probably a smart idea. I had two parties going for a bit when I hit 10k. Not that I minded, of course.
I think that it would be useful if the community feed showed a “__ minutes ago” like with the other alerts.
Maybe play around with the name a little, Fucme was used in my 20K thread, I approved.
I missed that party, @ucme, so, congratulations on tour 20K!
You did? It was a while ago, several months in fact. Err, cheers for your belated wishes then ;¬}
@ucme I loved that one! I thought it was a very good play on words.
@chyna Yeah @Harple did herself proud on that one.
I may have opened a can of worms for my 30K thread…..oops!
Maybe the rule should be that you have to mention at least one of the following: the jelly’s name, the mansion/castle/island/art colony, or 10K/20K/30K/40K. Any of those terms should indicate that it’s a party thread.
@SavoirFaire Great idea. That shouldn’t impede the artistic flow of the question.
@bob_ But in reverse. More like Oelav v. Yelkcub.
Well, now I feel terrible.
@dappled_leaves Make us some sandwiches, we might forgive you.
Easy on the lettuce.
@dappled_leaves You are neither the first, nor will you be the last. I’ve never put names in party questions either. Besides, we get duplicates all the time even with names, places, and milestone numbers. I think @chyna just wants to make it a little easier for people.
P.S. Thank you for the party!
@dappled_leaves NO, don’t feel terrible. I didn’t want to make you or anyone else feel bad for anything. Way up there @incendiary_dan said he had two parties going on also. I can’t even find either of my parties in the search history because my name isn’t in the title. You have a perfectly nice party going on. Well, maybe there’s a few jellies that have had too much to drink, but it is a really fun party.
I take no responsibility for those who overdo their G&Ts, but I think I can rustle up some sandwiches… how about banana?
I love the creative questions associated with the parties. I see no need to limit them.
I like the idea of giving some indication that it’s a party thread, with or without the actual name in the title.
@dappled_leaves Don’t feel bad, one of our own mod’s party question for a fellow jelly was modded because she cussed in the title. ;)
My duplicate happened because I was searching for a 10k in the question list. When you’re scanning through the list it would take much longer if you needed to read every title. LOL maybe I’m little too pressed for time.
I’m used to people making up great tags for the different users but adding 10k, 20k etc.
Is there a list of Meta questions I’m not getting or something? There are so few of them, I really don’t think it’s that difficult to find one.
@bob_ I sometimes have 50–100 questions in my list, 3 kids fighting around me and a head injured sister shouting her 50th question of the day. I zip on here, look for the interesting questions and delete the ones that at first or second reading don’t seem to be something I could add anything to.
Today was frustrating because I saw SavoireFaire had reached 10k and wanted to congradulate him because he is a jelly I really like. I was completely expecting either “10k” or “mansion” in the title because that is the usual format. You’re right that there aren’t many question in the meta section but I wondered if the question had been placed in the social section…or even the general section and I was at the point where I was going to click on every question to see if it really was the party.
I finally did find it by clicking on the user’s screen name and searching through their “questions asked list”.
Perhaps it was just gross oversight on my part because I am so freaking busy but it would have been much easier to see the 10k in the title.
I hear ya @tranquilsea. When I spend time on Fluther I do it in very short spurts of time. I noticed that question in meta but had no clue what it was about, and honestly wondered why it was in meta because going by just the title it looked out of place. I like to quickly look at each section and go to whatever question grabs my attention first. I don’t see why it would be such a problem to include the username or whatever lurve milestone it might be. I’ve seen some very clever titles that included such descriptions. It helps those of us who don’t have time to click on every question.
The first 10k I hosted I messed up because I didn’t phrase it as a question. I just said Let’s welcome Hawaii_jake to the 10k mansion!
Oh the pressure of getting it just right =/
Love this question. I hope it becomes part of Fluther’s -so-called—guidelines.;)
Related topics to the right of my screen include a “question” for Amwiser’s lurve fest 10k – with her name in the question. I agree, Chyna.
You CAN, but “May I make a suggestion?” might be more appropriate—alas, it is moot—you done gone did it arready.
@anartist Thanks for your correction and might I add you misspelled the word already.
@chyna Great Idea! I’ve recently missed parties that I didn’t have a clue were parties. :/
@SpatzieLover You didn’t follow the trail of drunkend and puking Jellies back to the source?
@Hypocrisy_Central I was wondering why there was a puke smear next to @tedibear’s lurve score one day ;)
@tranquilsea, I am sorry to have caused you so much personal grief.
@dappled_leaves not a big deal. It was just bad timing. My kids had recently lost my keys, my sunglasses and then had a general freak out. Tension was high already.
I didn’t mean to come across as castrating you and for that I apologize.
