Does it pain your heart when people make fallacious statement in public?
Even as educated and open-minded people we often hear that some people like to make fallacious statement in public, and they usually interpret reality with something else as they wish and state it as truth.
The example would be when I saw a reality news that said all the houses in a town were destroyed by tsunami except mosques because the God protect them, while in fact it was because all houses except mosques were small and made from wood material.
The other popular example would be (very popular in Ramadhan) when one get or lost a mate they will never state that it’s their doing but rather it’s all God’s will and has been decided by God Himself (also in reality news).
Will it irritates you when people abuse reality and science, and proclaim it as ultimate truth in public?

It’s up there with the over use of cliché.~
;) But, yes religion is irksome.
Tragedy in all its forms is a toughie for anyone to deal with and can be quite traumatic. I would never begrudge anyone from finding solace in something so simplistic as “it’s God’s will”.
The thing is to them it’s not fallacious at all. They do believe what they say sometimes. Each form of reality to its own?
In American politics we have “spin doctors” who can present news to favor one side, but you’re describing a much more blatant state-run propaganda favoring a particular religion. Religious leaders often get media attention, however, and “God’s will” is a politically versatile concept.~
It only pains me that people know not what they say. And not to get into other’s beliefs, I’ll leave it at that.
Not really.
I do have nerd rage sometimes though, usually when dealing with people talking about history when they obviously don’t know what they are talking about, or when I hear Cowadoody kids who think they know everything about weapons and the military when clearly they don’t.
Well, it bothers me, yes, but sadly, that kind of thinking is fairly common and you can’t reason with people who can’t be reasoned with. It helps to have counter evidence, counter examples though. I remember reading about a small town that was almost completely wiped out by a tornado. The schools, the businesses, homes, the churches, the city hall, etc. and do you know what the only building left standing was? The one building that survived almost entirely intact? The town’s one and only bar! :-) I read about that and thought: “That little story is going to come in handy someday.”
It doesn’t pain me in my heart but it does bother me as well. I know what you mean. Making religion up to be something it is not especially by peopel who DON’T belive it to be so. Some people will just say stuff like that to gain favour somewhere and that is really annoying. Any one who truly believes that whatever happens is God’s will, I don’t pay much attention to. It’s about everyone’s personal faith.
I think it was God’s will that lead you to ask this question.
