Why is my HTC phone clock setting my default locaton to Albania?
I have an HTC desire with the Android operating system. Today at around 4 o clock, I noticed that my phone’s clock widget said my location was Tirana (the capital city of Albania) and gave me the time and temperature of that particular locale (several hours into the evening and several degrees cooler than my hometown in TN).
I went in and manually reset my location to my city in Tennessee. A few hours later, it reset to Tirana, Albania again, and my time and weather data changed as well. I switched it back manually again, cleared my cache, and restarted my phone. It switched back to Tirana again after I turned it back on. I manually changed it to TN again and it stayed that way for the rest of the night…
…until just now, though the time is still consistent with my locale.
Why does my phone insist that I’m in Albania? This is really damn annoying.

Are there any pre-set GPS settings in your phone or a default location it may be following?
@sarahhhhh not that I’m aware of. It has always shown my hometown as my default location, but it randomly started insisting that I’m in Albania today.
Ask the people from the store you bought it. Maybe they know more.
Is your phone rooted? Or, are the clock/weather apps you’re using non-standard?
You might have to do a reset.
Odd… call up a help line. Or switch your phone off, take your battery out, replace it and then switch it on again and then reset your location. (I feel like someone from the IT Crowd).
Have you considered the possibility that you are
in Albania?
I don’t think you are the only person with this problem.
Here is another person with Tirana issues.
Remember those posturing thugs? I’m guessing Albanian mob. Now they’ve hijacked your phone location. They’re messin’ with you, Fiddle. Be afraid.
Yeah, I know this is off topic in General, I just couldn’t help myself…
Are you actually in Albania? Sounds like a Twilight Zone episode.
I think occasionally they have issues with their satellites. I know with my Android (through Verizon) it often thinks that certain places (like my dad’s house) are about 15 miles away from where they actually are. And there’s one place in the mountains when I drive through that always, always says I’m in Russia. I’d call T-Mobile (??) and start there. Also, update any updates that need to be updated.
@JilltheTooth I lol’d.
@Everyone else, It’s working fine now. Thanks for the tips and links.
