If you currently live(d) in London, do you stay or do you go?
Say you live in London, which for most of us is hypothetical. With the riots, do you get the heck out of Dodge, or do you stay and stick it through?

I haven’t seen any news footage, but I imagine it’s commercial districts that are bearing the brunt of the illegal activity? I don’t think it would even occur to me to leave town.
I wouldn’t want to claim that i know what’s really going on over there in London but i don’t think it’s as bad as where I am right now. You absolutely have no idea how bad it is! From my perspective, if the riots are that bad then I would think about leaving. I’m leaving this place soon but not yet.
I guess it just depends on each individual in the end. Do what you feel is best for your own good.
@Tbag And where are you right now?
@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard some residences have come under attack as well.
Oh shit, really? Not good. Not that I approve of businesses being looted, but when you victimize private citizens that takes it to a whole different level. Fucked up.
@FutureMemory private citizens were being victimized via their businesses being attacked as well. A lot of small businesses have been looted, ransacked, or destroyed.
I’ve been in contact since last night with a boy in London who is locked in his home because of the mobs in the street. He can’t leave because vandalism to the train station means no trains are running. Busses are being overrun, stolen and set on fire so they aren’t running now either. He can’t walk out because he’s young and is afraid he’ll be mistaken for one of the troublemakers. So yes, it is effecting people’s homes and not “just” commercial properties. The violence is not settling, it’s spreading. Getting out of Dodge isn’t an option for many people
What is the best source for news on what’s happening in London? When I put on CNN it’s always the same stock market shit.
Apparently thugs went into a restaurant and attacked the diners, ripping rings off their fingers, necklaces from about people’s necks and robbed the. The chefs and kitchen workers came up from the kitchen and scared the thugs away. They came back though and 30 diners and the staff had to hide in the wine cellar.
I have to say, I am a bit nervous about going over there for a holiday right now.
If I were a Londoner, I’d be fighting back by now, if what you say is true @Bellatrix. That’s some serious bullshit.
Kind of a no brainer really, stay & “circle the wagons” these mindless fucks will soon crawl back into the gutter from whence they came. I wouldn’t consider it an option to leave, not for a single moment, that’s letting the bastards win now isn’t it?
From a friend from Manchester:
Yes it’s been terrible. It’s not so much rioters, it’s just looters. These kids have seen that the rioters in London have managed to get tellys and mobiles and thought that they would like to get some free stuff too. It all started because a fella in London was shot dead by police: but the kids in Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Leeds and Birmingham have no connection to that. The even sadder thing is that last night the BBC reported that there were women following the news crews round Manchester carrying bags and asking where the shops that had been smashed up were… hoping to cash in on some free loot. Shocking.
@Bellatrix good for them. They get my vote for badass of the week.
I agree @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard. It must have been a terribly, frightening experience. Those people deserve bravery awards.
I just heard on the news three people have been killed in a hit and run incident in Birmingham. They were protecting their property. The disturbing thing is the discussion on the news this morning mentioned that organisations such as the English Defence League are now getting involved in a vigilante role. Not a good thing. Link
