[NSFW!] What if anything could be done about pro bono hookers?

Without the money, it isn’t prostitution, thus not a crime. So that solves the need for adequate police. One problem solved!

Then, in order to compete, the REAL hookers, will have to start paying their clients. That would improve the economy. So you could hire a vice cop or two. Second problem solved!

Finally, the real hookers will run out of money, and move on to greener pastures. All problems solved!

Actually, if you read Superfreakonomics (a book that I highly recommend), part of the economics of prostitution over time are discussed in the book.

In an earlier time in US history, “high class” whores were often kept in “respectable-looking” brothels that catered to generally wealthy men. That was because sex outside of marriage was (often) difficult to arrange and expensive no matter how it was achieved. Mistresses cost lots of money, street hookers were non-existent (because “easy sex” wasn’t part of the culture) and nice girls simply didn’t put out. Those prostitutes in those times could earn a very high income. Furthermore, because of the clientele they served, they often had de facto protection from politicians, judges, police and other male professionals (doctors, too, including totally illegal abortions from time to time) who were often clients or had professional relationships of their own with other, more-powerful clients.

Fast forward to the sexual revolution, women’s liberation and the generally easy availability of birth control and abortion. Attitudes toward sex have changed, and nice girls often do have sex nearly as often as they want. It’s easier to arrange, and often “free” for both parties. Since the demand for sex always exists, but the supply side has opened up, it only makes simple economic sense for the price to have come down – way down.

Women who want to do the ho stroll and “give it away for free” to attempt to drive out street hookers would simply be doing a burlesque of what society is already doing. The problem for them, as it is for street hookers, is that they’d be taking tremendous personal risk in every encounter. A lot of the guys trolling for street hookers have a lot of serious damage and personality disorders of their own, not to mention random disease.

You seem to confuse simply wanting to have sex with many men for free with prostitution. Women who are sex workers don’t do it because they love sex and just figure they’ll make money on the side; they do it because they are in a position of having little economic choice.

I believe ‘pro bono hooker’ is the best term I’ve ever heard for some of the girls I knew in college. I will use this in conversation. Frequently.

Nothing, because it’s not illegal to be promiscuous. It would be kind of silly for such women to go there to do that in that way because ”there are a lot of horny men going to Vallejo”, because women who want to just get laid don’t really have to go any place special or do anything spectacular to find a man willing to oblige.

First of all. There’s no pro bono hooker. If a woman has a desire for sex and gets nothing out of it except the sex then she’s not a HO [like you called them].

Second. If the people there do not like the idea of having these people around then they should pay some money for more patrol cars. A picture isn’t necessary the best way to prove a certain woman is a ho.

Third. I don’t think all of people there will mind for free sex services. If it’s a town where everybody knows everybody it’s less likely to be able to have sex without someone gossiping in your back.

And forth. There’s nothing the police can do about women who offer their selves for pure pleasure.

@Zaku women who want to just get laid don’t really have to go any place special or do anything spectacular to find a man willing to oblige.¬ They may not get arrested if they were at the mall or the dog park asking every man they came to if they wanted to boink, but they would have to go through less work if they go where they know men, either single or attached and willing to cheat, are. Overall, less work, and they know when a guy ask them, not them doing the asking, they are willing and ready to go.

If they aren’t willing to pony up for the police, then I have absolutely no sympathy for them. None at all. In fact, I suspect they like the hookers, but are just making a show of it to maintain some kind of dignity.

Whet they should do, of course, is tax the Johns. A kind of sex sales tax. Then they could hire police to keep the hookers safe, so they continue to enjoy the revenue stream.

Maybe they are too busy hanging out with HypCent’s free “hookers.”

@Hypocrisy_Central It may seem that way to you. I don’t expect it would seem like an attractive choice to many actual women, though there might be some who might try that, maybe. However I am sure that it would never be a popular choice for so many women that it would be something others would be looking for something “to be done” about it, except perhaps pimps who might try to see what they could get out of these people. Which is another of many reasons it occurs to me that an actual woman would tend to choose another way to be promiscuous.

It just seems like your premise misses many points actual women. Actual women tend to have an abundance of willing male sex partners wherever they go. Most actual women are not thrilled by the idea of dressing up as hookers and walking on a skanky street attracting piggish men. Most actual women would prefer to hook up with someone more appealing and safe, and those men tend to be abundant and accessible enough, and are more easily found in safe locations.

A mentality closer to what you seem to be imagining seems like horny gay man, and again, they go where there are available gay men (i.e. gay neighborhoods and bars), not walking the street and hooking up with anyone driving by.

I would like to add that most women I know who do behave that way either have bipolar disorder or have had all kinds of abuse that led them to feel worthless, except for what’s between their legs. They generally have sex so quickly with a stranger because it is the only way they feel any affirmation for themselves as a person.
