Bill the Cat… ack ack! I love Bloom County!
Mighty Mouse!!! How could you not love him!? “HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!!! MIGHTY MOUSE IS ON HIS WAY!!!” He was small but powerful. What small child could fail to love him? He always got plastered with kisses at the end of each show by the girl mice. Then he would get all bashful and blush. At least that is what I remember.
Umm the choice is so hard! I would have to go with Batman though. Mainly because he is a regular human, and yet he is a super hero. I can relate because I have never been super strong, fast, or best at anything, and yet I still found ways to succeed at things especially in sports. Hence why people always call me “Batman”.
I loved Mighty Mouse as well. MM Rocks!

Hunter “Grendel” Rose: Author who takes over the criminal underworld and fights batman because he’s bored.
What a great question! The Peanuts comics have been near and dear to my heart since I first discovered the paperpback books an older sibling collected. The characters were all diverse in their own way, just like life.
Peppermint Patty was the one I connected to the most.
Schulz said that he had developed the Peppermint Patty persona in response to the burgeoning Women’s Liberation Movement that was sparked in the latter half of the 1960s, and that he desired to create a character that defied gender stereotypes and embraced social norms that had yet to become fashionable.
Peppermint Patty is noted for her persistent habit of profoundly misunderstanding basic concepts and ideas that most people would consider obvious, leading to ultimately embarrassing situations. For a long time she seemed unaware that Snoopy was a dog, referring to him as “the funny looking kid with the big nose.” I can relate to that.
Lolek and Bolek.
Nu Zaietz, Nu Pagadi.
Popeye the sailor.
They are not that good but when I grew up there were only a few options for cartoons. We loved them all. I still look at some of them with pleasure.
@zen I love that clip! I remember watching him performing that on SNL. Hilarious!
Aside from the obvious….
Opus from Bloom County.
Completely naive about politics, he spoke from the heart, and tried to find common ground with others, however tenuous. He was sweet, and really felt bad when he had mean moments.
Totoro, because he’s magical without even uttering a single word.
Stewie, Peter Griffin and Brian. ( on my dying day I’d like to watch these three so I could die laughing. )
zen Thanks for the clip! I forgot about that one! I will have nothing to do with the New Adventures of Mighty Mouse. The oldies are the best!
Goku and Gohan! I grew up on DBZ.
Actually, I got lots and most of them are anime/manga characters but some of the non-Japanese I like would be Pit and Kantrop, Donald Duck, Pink Panther, and others that I may have forgotten their names.
For the Japanese ones I love Inuyasha, Midori Days, Red Garden, Black Cat, HunterXHunter, and many others that I could say all at once.
COMICS:
Love Batman and Gambit.
But Silver Surfer wins.
COMIC STRIPS:
Milkman Dan from Red Meat.
Earl from Mutts.
CARTOONS:
Bumblebee from Transformers.
Most recently this year, my now favorite is the horse ‘Maximus’ in the ’ Tangled’ film.
Great character, his expressions are priceless!
