Just won a ticket to the VMAs, what should I do?

Asked by johnny0313x (1860points) August 16th, 2011

I’ve never traveled, I’m on the east coast and certainly didn’t plan expenses for this! I won a stage ticket for the show meaning I’d be sitting right on stage off to the side! Does anyone have any suggestions on making this a very low cost trip? I know a hotel, rental car, etc. would be needed! I can’t imagine passing this up but it just doesn’t seem realistic.

Plan ahead, search around for cheap hotel packages and deals… and consider motels if possible. Pack some food, a loaf of bread, nuts/trail mix, canned goods… low cost things that you can feed yourself with from your room, things that don’t necessarily require refrigeration. Eating out for every meal is costly.
Oh, and yay! How cool for you. Congrats!

I am so envious of you but in a good way!I would suggest you go on expedia. com to find a hotel/motel that’s less costly and in the general area your staying. Hope you have a lot of fun.

Is the ticket just for you? Because if it is for two people you might want to post something in craigslist L.A. saying that you have the tickets but need a place to crash and you are short of money, if there is somebody willing to take you in and feed you then you will take him/her to the vmas. Or get a friend to do this for you. Or couchsurfing like @8Convulsions suggested.

unfortunately its just for me…and I can’t even give it away cause I am the only one who can use it apparently. I’m looking into some options though, I can’t let this go to waste…
