I’m loading her up with Coffee Crisp from Canada. :) My g/f and I are taking her here.
Anywhere are around the Detroit area that you would recommend?

I second Greektown!
Anywhere you can find Petoskey stones.
Greenfield Village
Detroit’s Eastern market on a Saturday morning.
Driving between the dunes and Detroit, I would follow the coast between Muskegon or Holland, rather than cutting straight across the state.
I’ve always wanted to visit Holland. The Motown Museum and/or the Detroit Institute of Arts would be on my personal list of to-do’s, too. As would a ferry or boat ride of some sort.
Having a jelly over sounds like fun! Enjoy your time together!
follow the coast between Muskegon or Holland
That was supposed to say between the Dunes and Muskegon or Holland. Not just the little stretch between Muskegon and Holland.
Hmmm…musta been before coffee time
The dunes sounds nice.I had a little booklet of events that came with the paper but lost it when V was here XD
Show her Robocop, or drive to Windsor.
Ooh, any good places for dessert?
I’ve never been to Michigan in my life, but as a Greek I also vote for Greektown. How can that be anything but awesome?
My wife is from Monroe and Ida, near Detroit. She says Cabelas
I suggest she find another state to go to.
But really, it depends on what she enjoys. The beaches of Lake Michigan are top-notch. If getting lost in a giant uninhabited forest sounds good to her, she should check out the Upper Peninsula. I personally recommend the Pictured Rocks area; very beautiful. You’d have to cross the Mackinac Bridge to get there, and that’s a pretty good touristy thing to see. Actually, Mackinac Island is a very nice tourist destination with some really interesting history.
If she’s more urban-minded, there’s always Detroit… I guess. I hope she likes urban decay.
@Jude I was going to say Sleeping Bear, but I see you have that covered.
Traverse City and the Northwest area to be sure.
Traveling back to the southeast along Lake Michigan would be nice, or you could cut back through the middle of the mitten on M46 and see this. There are more going up everyday in the middle of farm fields.
Mackinaw is a really nice area too.
I’m not really that familiar with Southeast Michigan, but I’m sure there are great resturants and fairs going on all over. Have you checked out the Pure Michigan travel information?
Lake Michigan beaches are the best in the country, and I don’t just say that because I live here, they’ve actually won that award. Go see a sunset on Lake Michigan and thank me later.
J0E, have you ever been to the Dunes? I can’t wait to be there. :)
@Jude Many, many times. I love the west side of the state, it’s like a different world over there.
Aw, she’s going to love it. It’s tinyfaery.
Pick up some Tart Cherry preserves at American Soon Foods.
Some Wine tasting at Black Star Frams.
Go antiquing!, pick a county or two!
Enjoy the the beaches and light houses of the Northwest coast.
And like Joe said, don’t miss the sunset!
I hope you both have a great time!
Fun times were had by all. The dunes were amazing and we plan on going back this coming weekend.
