Are you a bit excited about the latest Fright Night movie?

Asked by mazingerz88 (29229points) August 17th, 2011

The first Fright Night movie came out in the 80’s and I don’t know, maybe for nostalgic reasons, but I make sure I revisit it again once in every two years. I think it really was a well made vampire movie. Scary, funny and unforgettable. So is this new Fright Night movie quite the event for you just like it is to me? I’m hoping it would suck and suck good. The vampire not the movie. : )

I am not a fan of remakes.I remember the first one and I liked it.Whether or not I see the remake all depends on whether or not I am sleeping through it. :)

That movie is way too classic to have all the respect it deserves through a remake. But I don’t mind the idea of a remake, (based on the general horror remake) and will definitely check it.
Love horror, remakes or not haha.
I also wanna see that new Conan movie, I’m actually more excited about that for some reason.

@Symbeline I do have a baaad feeling about the new Conan. I hope I’m dead wrong.

Regarding Fright Night the original…“Oh, Brewster! You’re so cool, Brewster!”

@mazingerz88 I know how you feel. It better retain some of Howard’s original mythology…plus I denno how I feel about this vision of Conan, the character. Guess I’ll know after seeing it. Been waiting for a third Conan movie forever though lol…I actually don’t like the second one much.

Anyways back to Fright Night lol, sorry. XD

I am and I’m not. I’m not the biggest cheerleader for remakes in the first place. I’m only worried that they don’t do that thing where they put so much boobs/sex/alcohol in it in trying to make it more appealing to audiences today. I’m more interested in the remake of Straw Dogs at the moment.

@Symbeline Forget about the second Conan movie. It was crap.

One thing about the first Conan, the lack of digital special effects actually, imo, actually helped in giving it true grit. Loved the swordfights! John Milius did a great job directing that. And it was just fun. Plus the music was awesome! I listen to it everytime I feel like doing battle with whatever. : )

@Symbeline I’m excited for the new Conan as well. I guess it’s been a really long time since we had an actual kick ass movie. I also want to see “Don’t be Afraid of the Dark”.

@mazingerz88 Aye, Basil Poledouris was a musical genius. But I loved everything about that movie. Wanna live forever? Weeee! And yeah, agreed; that movie totally wins for grit, fuck does it ever. :)

@Michael_Huntington It has, hasn’t it? Although if you want a cool kick ass movie, I thought Centurion was pretty epic. You should check that out.

@Symbeline Ok, as a last note on Conan, I used to have this not so heavy sword that I used to imitate Conan in high-school, doing his sword swinging thing…too bad youtube does not have the exact scene clip but has this instead.

Lol that’s some epic shit right there. I love how they replay the parts where it looks like he has his hands in his back pockets, and just dancin around lol.

Judging by the trailer, it’s not as promising as the 80’s version. There were some nice art direction in that one while the new one is set in a Las Vegas suburb?

I’ll watch just about any horror movie, remakes included, so I’m sure I’ll check this one out eventually.

No! Hated the original so it’s a gimme I won’t entertain any half arsed remake.
