As much as I love Fluther I want another site to fall back on. What’s a good alternative to Fluther?

There is no alternative to Fluther.
ask.com comes to mind. But @erichw1504 is correct in that Fluther is either going to give you the insight you need or point out the trail to go up for more info.
When I am not in the mood for Fluther, I go to Mental Floss and read CNN. All are equally as informative, in different ways! :D
I just disoved the sites in the StackExchange network. The sites work wonderfully and, though a bit picky at times, have a very serious social control system.
I second @johnpowell ‘s Ask Metafilter link.
They’re a pretty diverse and solid community. However there’s a catch in that to be a Metafilter member, you have to pony up a one-time fee of $5. It keeps spammers and trolls out so it’s a worthy investment, especially when there’s so much more to metafilter than their Ask subsite.
Reddit is where I usually go when Fluther can’t answer my questions.
