The song is “You and I” which is very cool with or without the video.
Also, a great guitar solo if there was nothing else to like.

Three things that never disappoint…

I’m not a fan of music videos. Unless it’s something obvious, it just seems like art that has to be interpreted by whoever watches it. And most of the time, music videos all seem fake and scripted (well, they are, but i don’t like that).

Gaga doing country?! And it sounds good?! What parallel universe did I wake up in?!

Sorry but the song sucks and so does the video, imo. So no.

I love it. This song is such a departure for her, and really shows off her mad vocal skillz. She’s pretty much super awesome.

This video reminds me of something Marilyn Manson would have done. The song is okay, I think it could grow on me. I’m not sure how I feel about it… the video is interesting, though. This is like country meets Manson. Weird.

This is very, very strange for me. It was certainly not what I was expecting. I like the song, but the video. . .

And as @King_Pariah said, Gaga doing country!?!?!? What is this madness?

@athenasgriffin: Madness? THIS. IS. GAGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I love the video. I feel like when she does a “normal” song, she has to balance it out with a super weird video. Judas, for example, was a weird-ass song with a mundane video, but Born This Way was pretty standard fare with a super fucked up video. I feel like I should buy the CD now. I don’t like Judas and I can take or leave Born This Way, but I keep hearing other songs from the album that I love.

It was weird, but I still kind of liked it. Like some sort of Coen Bros. movie on acid…but I liked the song! Reminded me a little of Broken Bells or Gorillaz.

Didn’t think I was going to leave a quip for this question, but then a (somewhat) logical explanation came to mind. I figured I might as well share it.

It’s easy to say the video is madness/strange/nonsensical/ostentatious without merit. But consider how it came to be. There was a real thought process that Gaga (& her House of Gaga Monsters) went through to come up with every element of the video. To them, there is a rhyme & reason to every detail. One idea flowed to the next. As for the audience. There will most likely be very few people who connect with it instantly. Give it time & you may be able to see more to it. I’ll probably watch it a few more times. When you consider the title of the song, You & I, the imagery makes sense.

I am reminded of the time I was lucky enough to visit a gallery showing a collection of Jackson Pollock. I’ve only ever seen his work in text books. I never really understood what was so special about the work. When I actually stood in front of the massive canvas hanging eye level on the wall. I was blown away. When you stand as close to the canvas, as Jackson Pollock himself stood, you start to feel the process. Your eyes & body move with all the streams & splatters of paint. There really is a beautiful movement to it. From a distance it may look a mess. His work was meant to be admired up close & personal.

Since the Pollock, I’ve learned to not be so quick to judge. Otherwise I may miss out on something really special.

sidenote: Gaga is no stranger to country. She remade Born This Way into a country-esque song earlier this year

Wow, very creative video.

It strikes me that Lady Gaga is the Madonna of the current era, but with talent.

@FutureMemory: I thought I was the only one who didn’t like Madonna.
