Some friends of mine had Ballad for My One True Love by Mason Jennings sung by a friend at their wedding. It was perfect.
Zack…there’s so much more to music than PATD…
Hmm like fall out boy and my chemical romance… Or my American heart?
I just downloaded “All My Mistakes” by The Avett Brothers today and I thought it was a really sweet song. This guy talks about lost loves and fake friends, but how he appreciates the mistakes he made because it got him to where he is in life. A line in the song is “I can’t go back, and I don’t want to, cause all my mistakes, they brought me to you.”
So cute. <3

I was just thinking about this the other day as I was listening to LCD Soundsystem’s legendary track, 45:33. I thought to myself, would it be cool to play this at my wedding? The funny thing is I only ever think of marriage in the context of what song I will/can play.
I think it should be fun, so here’s one pick.
Click click click by Bishop Allen is my recomendation.

My husband wanted 10 story love song by Stone Roses and I wanted Thank you for loving me by Bon Jovi. In the end we agreed on True Love by Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly
Even though I really don’t care for pearl jam because i hate that the singer makes a grunt or groan between words in most of their songs. I am really loving their cover of the who’s ‘reign over me’. I’ll get on the comp and add a link when I get home.
I don’t like them either and almost didn’t see Into the Wild because of this, but they actually sounded OK.
damn the iPhone for not having a cut and paste feature. Arg…..
I can’t stay mad at my iphone
**hugs phone**
I like the piano.
I want this one too.
I want that white sweatshirt for my wedding and all those babes.
heres a good one for the arranged marriage wedding
Better When We’re Together by Jack Johnson. It’s pretty much the most precious love song ever.. :)
My serious answer:
baisicly any michael buble song is a perfect wedding song. He has such a great voice, I love his cover of dean martin’s song Sway.
Well I am already married but so good songs from the past. Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler from the movie Beaches. Or Iris by Goo Goo Dolls from the movie City of Angels.
If I were to do it all again, I’d probably try to be a bit different and original…....99 luftballons would be fun…
well, I want “Lets stay together” by Al Green played during our first dance. Actually walking down the aisle won’t be that traditional wedding song- I like that one song..I really forgot what it’s called but its lovely.. I’d hum it for you guys on here if I could. ♥
Annie’s Song by John Denver!
gamble everything for love – ben lee
I would want “Loving You Is the Right Thing” by Carly Simon.
This was played at my wedding.
My daughter played this at hers.
At Last-Etta James….
gives me goosebumps.
white wedding – billy idol
Just to see people scrunch up their faces in disbelief or confusion, probably something like “Live and Let Die” or “Funky Cold Medina.” It would be fun to have the traditional first dance as some interpretive number.
when you look me in the eyes-jonas brothers
Jack Johnson – Better Together (props to Sloane2024)
my original answer (which will be used in my December 08 wedding!) is…
Sleeping At Last – Umbrellas… this is absolutely the most beautiful MARRIAGE song ever. it’s so specific about spending your life with someone and talks about all the stages in life with your mate.
Our first dance song will be Dave Barnes – On A Night Like This… it’s a PERFECT love song. very short and to the point!
I used a 2-man jazz ensemble instead of the church organ. They played a very soft, slow version of “Isn’t She Lovely” instead of “Here Comes The Bride”.
Storybook Love by Mark Knopfler is what I walked down the aisle to, and Broken Road by Rascal Flatts was our first dance. But, that was almost three years ago… so I’m sure that’s all WAY to dated.
I want to dance at my wedding with my future imagined husband to Roy Orbison – You Got It
And I want to kiss him over and over. :) Girly, eh?
on impulse, i say first day of my life by bright eyes.
oh wow. that’s an interesting, eerie, and awesome choice
I would want when I First Saw You by Beyonce and Jamie Foxx from Dream Girls the movie
Everything must belong somewhere by brighteyes
it simply makes me happy
