Do you get amused when you see lots of old answers of yours get GAs?

Asked by incendiary_dan (13406points) August 20th, 2011

I just saw a bunch of mine did in a short period. Seemed to be from someone who already maxed out their lurve for me, but it’s still amusing to see evidence of someone specifically going back to see what I’ve written.

Ever happen to you? Does it give you a little kick of amusement?

Wow, @incendiary_dan , I was just wondering about that yesterday or was it Thursday? when I saw a bunch of old answers of mine getting GAs! I was rather flattered, then it occurred to me that someone might be going through old threads and GAing everybody! Still, fun, though, and I enjoy revisiting those threads.

I always smile when my answer from this question earns another point or two.

I often see it happen after making a new friend.

I know on occassion I read old questions and when I read a great answer I do give a GA as I would something that is a new post. I figure a great answer is just a great answer old or new.

rebbel's avatar

Yeah, I like to see that happen.
There is one answer that I especially get amused about when it gets a new GA.
I need a few more GA’s on that one to feel ‘totally satisfied’ :-)

Not amused as such, but maybe a little curious. Perhaps it’s a bunch of noobs merrily clicking away, or possibly just a random person who likes to “tidy up” threads.

Max out on lurve? So long as a person keeps asking questions how can you max out giving them lurve? Thought the whole concept is nebulous at best once you max out on the answer or comment, you can only give one, that shouldn’t bar you from new questions or comments.

When I see that I assume it was new people who followed me and checked out my activity, certainly not any old members that got logic enlighten all of a sudden.

I am always surprised to know that people are going back and reading old threads.

Surprised writers!
Wake up.
There are both writers and readers here.
As well as writer/readers.
You find this to be news….?

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

I’m not sure that it amuses me, but sometimes it makes me curious. A few times a week I will notice that I get a little string of lurve for old stuff, and it always makes me wonder if someone is just reading old stuff… or if someone is really reading through my profile. I’m curious.

Yeah. I love being cyber stalked.

It does make me happy. It was happening yesterday – I got a whole bunch of GAs on old questions.

First of all someone can just read bunch of old questions and mark some answers then decide to follow some of the users. You might not be the only one who gets it. For instance if you look at a question several others are listed on the right side on your screen under RELATED. So one can just star at a question then browse for others. I did not even bother to look which ones of my answers got QA or questions for this matter.

wilma's avatar

Like @Hibernate said, I figure that they clicked on a RELATED question and read through it giving GA’s to some answers.

incendiary_dan's avatar

@Hibernate and @wilma I’m not talking about just an old answer being GA’d. I mean like eight of them on different, unrelated questions all being GA’d in a short period of time (in my case, within minutes). It means someone is specifically looking for things written by you, likely by looking at your profile.

Looking more closely now, I think someone took a look at my questions and marked several of the ones that come up as the “greatest”.

Sometimes people enjoy going back and enriching the GA pool.

Lucky you @incendiary_dan you have a stalker!
Just kidding, maybe a secret admirer?

El_Cadejo's avatar

Yea, especially when i see answers from like 2008 getting GA’s. I generally like to go back to those questions and reread the threads. There are so many good questions that ive forgotten about over the years. its nice to remember sometimes.

As perhaps something of an explanation. When I am bored (I am not the only person giving out good answers I should say), I will often click on the ‘related’ threads on the right hand side of a discussion. Some of these may be very old and if I like an answer, I click GA. I am sure lots of other people do the same.

Berserker's avatar

Amused, well no, but it is kinda cool. Could be new users running around and checking shit out, or older users going back and all. Sall cool.

poisonedantidote's avatar

I always wonder who it is. Personally I hardly ever answer or check questions older than today.

Blondesjon's avatar

Of course not. They were Great Answers not Amusing Answers.

also very glad there is no such category. i always get uncomfortable when aa is brought up.

breedmitch's avatar

I like to troll old threads and GA gailcalled’s single word answers. It makes her go hmm.

dappled_leaves's avatar

Jeez, @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard, it’s no wonder you keep getting GAs on that thread. That’s spit-take material!

Hibernate's avatar

@incendiary_dan I feel you but if someone takes time to jump from a related question to another after a few jumps he might end up at totally different questions. he can start from a cat question and end up or relationship questions then after a few more he can be at the meta section talking about ipods. All he/she needs to do is click on a several rlated questions.

And like @wilma said. You might have a stalker ^^

augustlan's avatar

Not really amused, but interested, I guess. I do love to revisit the old threads when that happens.
