I cannot afford seroquel. What do I do?

Asked by txred (4points) August 22nd, 2011

I have been on Seroquel 600 mg every day for over 10 years. With my insurance it will still cost me over $300.00 a month. Is there anything I can do?

I don’t know why you need it but some of these may be helpful

Welcome to Fluther. Sorry to hear the cost is so high. You’ve got a couple of options:

1. Seroquel financial assistance

2. Check with doc to see if there are any alternative generic meds. (I’m on Prozac and Pristiq. Prozac is generic, so it’s cheap. Pristiq has a high co-pay. There are lots of other anti-psychotic meds out there. Your doc and/or doc’s office may be your best source for finding alternatives. A transition is not too difficult, and it may even be more helpful to your situation.)

3. Check with several different vendors to see if there are ways to get a 90-day supply at a lower cost. Try Walgreens and Costco.

Whatever you do, don’t stop taking your medicine because of cost. At the very least, contact your doc’s office. They are there to help you.

Good luck!

most pharmaceutical companies have their own assistance programs, you can see if you’re eligible on their website.

Is this a new insurance company?

Try the assistance programs others above gave links to and also call your insirance and ask if there is anything the doctor can do. Possibly if he writes this is the only effective medication for you they will cover it better.

Some pharmacies offer prescription assistance, as well as the links provided above. Have you tried discussing the cost with your pharmacist? You may be able to get a discount card for your medication.

Generic quetiapine is available (although I don’t about in the US) and is probably a lot cheaper than paying for the brand name.
