General Question

How could I use my PC's IR port for this?
I plan on modding a thinkgeek sonic screwdriver with an IR LED, and I want to make it so that when I aim it at my computer, the IR port will pick up the solid signal of IR light, and play the sound of the T.A.R.D.I.S. taking off. IS there a greasemonkey script or a simplet way Ic an trigger an audio playback or more when any IR light is detected for say, 5 seconds?
