Stay blond or back to brunette for a reunion?

Asked by JLeslie (65743points) August 22nd, 2011

I just went blond after being close to my natural color, medium brown, for many years. I am going to a work reunion party in a couple of months; I will be staying with my inlaws. Anyway, I usually do these type of parties in my more natural color hair, but my MIL loves my hair blond, so I am torn what to do the next time I get my hair done. Almost everyone will look fantastic. These people keep themselves looking good, we worked retail, several, including myself, worked in cosmetics.

What say you?

Why not show who you are right now in your life? I say stay blonde.

Go red. I dig me some redheads.

What makes you feel good and feels right?

@erichw1504 my husband keeps bugging me to go red again. Lol.

@marinelife I have only been blond for 4 weeks now, did it before the reunion was planned. I was very glad I went back to brunette when I was married, although of course this is nothing like getting married. I actually was blond part of the time I worked there, but the person I am planning the reunion with does not even remember that I was blond when he first knew me.

@Adirondackwannabe Not sure. I am fine with both. But, the effect is different here where I live and with people who have not seen me in many years. Plus blonder is a little cliche for getting older, that is the one thing that bugs me about it, but I think the blond gave me a lift as a change from the brunette with people who see me every day.

It sounds like you’re torn between wanting to look the way your mother in law wants you to look and wanting to look the way your coworkers want you to look. Why don’t you go with how you want you to look?

I don’t know how I want to look. This should be my biggest problem. I went blond recently for a change, and I liked that my MIL would get to see it. Probably I would prefer being brunette for the reunion, but I don’t mind being blond. It’s a toss up.

It’s not high school anymore. Go as you are happy with yourself, and don’ worry about what other people think.

If you like the blonde and think that you’d like to keep it that color for awhile, then you should keep it blonde for the re-union. If you’re just wearing it blonde because your MIL loves it, but you feel more comfortable with your closer to natural color, then I’d change it back.

I think I would pick whatever color you are most likely to end up being in the long run.

Do something really different: shave it all off!

@wundayatta But then they might get her mixed up with @zen LOL

<Sigh> I obsess about my hair loss from my crazy thyroid. If I shaved my head I would probably be better off.

Stay blond. Don’t go ginger.

I would say stay blonde since apparently you don’t mind either way and hubby is digging the blonde look. Really go for wow and get some highlights too! My wife does this and done right it can be quite stunning!
