How is it some people naturally gain better hand writing while others even with loads of practice still have bad hand writing?

Asked by kingpinlovesyou (312points) August 22nd, 2011

I remember in school writing just as much as some of my other class mates but having much worse hand writing. Even today when theses people don’t write much anymore they still have good hand writing.

It just makes me think how much can practice influence certain things.

Natural ability.

My handwriting may suck, but it’s okay because I’m still naturally awesome.

@cheebdragon
Why are some people not improving like we would normally expect? What other things are the same were naturally ability seems to out weigh practice?

It comes from their genes…..not blue jeans.

Agree with @john65pennington. Some are just naturally better at tasks requiring fine motor coordination.

Practice; better hand-eye coordination.

I have a good hand writing skill. I write the quotes that I like on the notebook and read those again and again. It makes me happy. The thing is I write very slowly. While writing down the words, I totally concentrate on each and every word, and think how would it look like!.

Some people have better fine motor skills than others. No matter how much they practice, they can only get so much better. Mine has gotten worse over the years, probably because my hands are one of the first things to start hurting with overuse (fibromyalgia).

Some people can practice for years to become a professional athlete, others to become a concert pianist—and it just isn’t going to happen. Yet others barely need to practice to be among the best at these things. It is God-given talent they inherited. Most people can work at things to become quite good, but it takes more work in some people than others.
