In your opinion, what type of hairstyle goes with what personality?
Feel free to include links since hairstyles are often hard to describe. I was just curious as to what you all had to say.

“Big” hair-dos go with big, puffed up, pontificating, canoe length head spaces.
Bald equals mature, with some wisdom thrown in for good measure.
I have a horror of this hairstyle This isn’t even the worst example… I can’t find a photo online but an exaggerated version of this hairstyle combined with a high bumpit… I call it a mullet in reverse!
The only women I see in this hairstyle (where I live) are the snooty suburban soccer mom types. No offense if anyone has it; I’m talking about in my area
I prefer the ‘face shape-designed’ compatible hair styles, hair styles would also have to be compatible with your attires, or occasion attire to bring about aesthetic impression but if you ask hair styles regarding personalities then I would say:
– Curly short hair, split pony, round style: Cheerful and playful.
– Straight short hair, flat pony, ear limit style: Serious and calm.
– Wavy long hair, long split pony: Romantic and compassionate.
– African/gang-bang (don’t know what to name it) short hair, tight to behind: Brave and sassy.
– Straight long hair, one way pony: Shy and kind.
– Curly long hair, free pony, tight to behind: Bookworm and smart.
– Wavy medium-length hair, one way pony, un-tight: Sophisticated and charismatic.
– Straight medium-length hair, one way pony, tight in half: Naive and childish.
(That is it for now…).
Long and wavy = playful and young at heart.
just a guess. it’s similar to mine =)
I’d hate to think people were judging my personality based on my hairstyle. Forget the stereotypes, I think you should wear it however you want.
@Keep_on_running I wish that was the case, but they have poured millions of dollars (if not billions) into marketing research on how a person’s lifestyle, job and personal preferences affect their choices of clothes, cars, hairstyles, vacations… and advertising corps target the demographic that’s more likely to respond to their product.
So, hairstyles do have some degree of a statement about who we are. This is a good example of how Fluther had a hair+stereotype discussion.
@linguaphile I understand, but surely most people can realise this and see through it?
I don’t think that there is any correlation between hairstyle and personality.
@Keep_on_running I think most people do look beyond hair once they get to know the person, but I also think that hairstyles become part of the first impression. If I see someone with wise woman hair I will not think “Corporate CEO” even though she might be. Almost all the female administrators I’ve known in education have similar hairstyles (straight bob, close cropped, or short perm).
I definitely think my hairstyle reflects who I am. My hair is in messy waves like the photo, but very dark brown.
An alternate thought… maybe some people’s styles reflect their jobs or what they want to represent more than their actual personalities…
I hope people look beyond the hair style. Mine is called work with what you’ve got left.
