When you decide someone is insignificant what do you base your judgement on?

That in 30 billion years the universe will tear in to nothingness, destroying time, space, and everything else, thus rendering all human endeavour totally pointless.
Well, whenever I think that about someone, I tell myself to stfu because, of course, I don’t know for sure that they’re insignificant nor does everyone share my views on what exemplifies significance. I guess, if I’m pressed to give you some notion, I’d say the extremely rich people who became that way at the expense and detriment of others (and in the case of the extra rich, that’s pretty much all of them) and don’t give a hoot about supporting those in need. I think they are a waste of space. There are others, too. But hell, I’m implicit in a lot of injustice as well, so I shouldn’t talk.
An insignificant person only exists in their own eyes. They refuse to let their light shine. We all are affecting people 24–7. I know some of you don’t think much of the aura assertions, but we are all broadcasting, all the time. You know yo are always picking up vibes that lift you or bring you down when in the presence of others. It’s just a fact. The sultry CEO isn’t nearly as enchanting as the bubbly bell hop.
As gorpy as this sounds, I try not to think of any person as insignificant. They may not have a positive value rating in my (somewhat harsh sometimes, I suppose) opinion, but I feel there is always a measurable significance.
It’s not a terminology I would ever use. There are people who are more or less interesting to me because of my own mishegas but nobody is insignifanct.
One planet out of what….trillions in this universe….A meteor could hit us and the universe would go on like it has been lol.
It doesn’t take much for someone to have an impact on someone else, positively or negatively.
By definition, a human being cannot in any way be perceived as insignificant.
Annoying/despicable/intolerable, but never insignificant.
When he or she farts. All 10 seconds of it.
People I haven’t met or heard of or no idea have been born at all or killed are insignificant to me.
To me politicians are insignificant, for what good they do….. But I don’t know anyone personably that is insignificant…. Everyone I know has a role to play, no matter how small, even if it’s just affecting each others lives in trivial ways :-/
I see no person as insignificant, but I do see certain professions as insignificant, such as high paid sports stars, porn stars, actors, etc. Pretty sad when a sports or porn star makes more than a teacher and is paid millions, given star status, for tossing a ball around or having sex on camera.
@Coloma Hey, you try outrunning a 250 pound linebacker or take a 10 inch tool.
(Gives a new meaning to hardened criminal)
@Coloma a masseuse with 18 months of training can make more than an average teacher starting out, but I doubt many people would find masseuses insignificant. Dang, did I pick the wrong field? :D
In the greater scheme of things, no, nobody’s insignificant, but that doesn’t mean I should embrace them all as friends. Some people I just don’t want in my sphere!
In my life experience, I’ve encountered people whose attitude and opinions so adversely conflict with mine that I have written them off as insignificant to my life in order to keep my head from exploding.
One who does nothing with his or her life and in the end is not remembered for anything. He or she is truly insignificant…. And since nothing you or I do has any value in the long run, we are also insignificant in our own right.
@King_Pariah
Right, we are all insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Even the most amazing contributors to humanity are forgotten. How often do we think of Einstein or Ghandi or JFK or MLK or any number of ‘significant’ others that have left an indelible mark in history?
From a spiritual perspective whatever our contributions, be it parenting or winning the Pulitzer Prize, our life is reduced to that little dash between birth and death on our tombstone. Really, that’s it, our existence ends up being summed up in a inch long dash. lol
“There is no such thing as an insignificant enemy”
~Proverb
There are no insignificant people. ~Me
If you allow your heart and your mind and your eyes to open then nothing is insignificant.
@flutherotherI agree. Living with an open heart brings endless freedom-
