What is the worst fashion blunder you've ever seen someone make?

Asked by Ayesha (6221points) August 23rd, 2011

Ever seen someone trying to pull of and edgy look, but actually going over the edge with it? People trying to look their best, apart from the crowd, but overdoing it? What are your stories?

Just about every 5 minutes in New York City! I think the worst was the woman who was at least 7 months pregnant wearing a crop top. Mind you she was not an unsophisticated woman. We saw her in Soho. My husband laughed out loud and I had to rib him. He was like “She’s asking for it isn’t she? Dressing like that?”

I would have to say Lady Gaga’s Kermit the Frog outfit was the worst ever. Here

I just can’t get used (and don’t want to get used to) to football soccer, that is players with colored shoes, like so.
In my view they look like clowns and they aren’t aware they do, they think they are cool.
Cool is black.

Khaki shorts, hawaiian shirt, and running sneakers with black socks pulled up high. Some older men have no idea wtf they’re doing.

Enuff said.

I cringe when I see girls of different sizes stuff themselves into pants 3 sizes too small because they can’t handle accepting a higher number and end up looking like Michelin men with muffintops, or flop their stomach over their waistbands. They don’t understand that finding properly fitting clothes in bigger sizes will actually make them look thinner.

Full Cleveland

Also mixed plaids for pants and herringbone jacket with paisley ties.

A woman in our showroom had on a single layer tank that showed a bright blue bra underneath and black leggings that looked sheer, like pantyhose type tights not meant to be worn as pants. They were see through and she wore no underwear.

ahhh!!!! but MacBatman31 who could resist this good bye kiss at the 2009 VMAs???!!! I have the inside story that she really wanted Kermie to walk up the aisle with her but needed to be reminded that Kermit was a puppet, lol!!!

@rebbel: She was loud, over-the-top demonstrative and our salespeople were nervous to approach her. I mean c’mon!

So many it is impossible to list them all.

Leggins with mini skirts seen all over my college campis back in the late 80’s maybe people still do it in colder climates?

Short mini skirts and very low cut tops, you can only be revealing in one spot and get away with it looking cute or sexy. Both places and it looks tacky or sleazy.

Almost all shrug jackets/sweaters over t-shirts.

5 inch heals.

If I bothered to look in the mirror, I’d see it every day.

What I know about fashion wouldn’t fill half of the head of a pin, even if it were written in ten point type.

@JLeslie damn I love my 5 inch heels.

I was buying balloons at party city and saw a short, squat, Latin woman who probably weighed 250 and was 5’. She had a giant belly and teeny boobs and wore a metallic silver bikini top and a hot pink fishnet shirt over. And jorts. I did a triple take. The image has never left me.

JLeslie's avatar

@redfeather I can’t wait for those heels to go out of fashion. They look ridiculous, and are unsafe.

The woman you described my husband calls a piñata.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

I love my 5” heels too, every pair.

JLeslie's avatar

@Neizvestnaya If you’re happy, I’m happy.

You should know I was the heel queen. I still love them. Just not 5 inches, simpy too tall in my opinion. Can’t dance in them, can’t run from a scary man in them, and tend to make women look like Minnie Mouse, especially shorter women, their leg is all shoe.

redfeather's avatar

If a scary man is chasing you, you whip the five inch heels off and chuck them at him. I’ve danced in mine and they make my legs and heiney look mighty fine. I hope they never go out of style!

JLeslie's avatar

@redfeather Danced how? Hip hop?

Hope you have time to take the shoe off running away, God forbid any need for this ever arises.

I them to be available for those who want to wear them, I just want some 3 and 4 inch in the stores also.

Are you guys really criticizing people because they don’t follow your pretentious aesthetics? Come on…

When a woman wears a nice dress and…..sneakers or crocs! I know she might be on her way to the office and it’s convenient and comfortable for her to get there in sneakers, but to couple running shoes or crocs with a nice skirt or dress? Lol.

When a man wears a nice suit and shirt, but leaves his neck-tie undone, or couples a nice suit with sneakers! Agggh.

When a man is dressed to the nines but doesn’t bother to comb his hair, or when he leaves his face unshaved and slobbish looking while wearing a nice suit and tie. I mean, if you’re going to dress well, you might as well complete the look by grooming yourself and not look like a slob or a drunkard with a suit on.

Sweet holy moly, I was commuting on the bus and some woman on it who had to be tipping the scale around 260lb was trying to rock some Daisy Dukes and a tight crop top. There was so much of her muffin topping over her “Daisy Don’ts” you almost mist all the cottage cheese below her Plumber’s crack because the blubber kept pushing her shorts down. My eyes are scared still……

@Silence04 Um, that is what the question is about.
