If a "Tea Party" representative had said that the Congressional Progressive Caucus can go to hell, would that be regarded as racism?

Maxine Waters, D-California 35, recently said that ‘The tea party can go straight to hell’
Generally, the press has been patronizing to Ms. Waters, as if to say “She is so crazy, what do you expect her to say?” And her constituency clearly tolerates this condescending patronization.
What if someone who represents the focus of her animosity said that the CPC, of which she is a member, can go to hell?
What would she say?
What would the press say?

I didn’t see it as racism, I saw it as someone fed up with the Tea Party, which is understandable.
@Blackberry I understand that too. But, respectfully, that is not the question. Although, come to think of it, there is more than one question in my post. So what do you suppose would happen if a Tea Party rep and said the CPC can go to hell. Forget the racism.
I changed the question. You’re right.
People in politics say that all the time. The usual suspects applaud or are appalled.
It’s only racism if you already hate the speaker.
Condescending patronization comes from both sides, but people generally only notice when the other side does it
I’m not sure where you get the racism thing from. And thank you for informing me of this travesty. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I guess some people would probably see it as racist. I usually don’t jump to that conclusion quickly, but certainly people could make a case for it depending on the full context of what is said in your hypothetical situation.
I don’t think so. Otherwise anytime anyone insulted someone who was black it would be called racism.
Maxine Waters can go straight to hell.
I’m sure there would be some who would try to make hay of it. Pretty much any statement that can be taken as derogatory towards a black person or persons is going to be called racism. It’s just the way it is.
If the tea party said Waters could go to hell, of course it would be racism. The media would be sure to tell us it was.
No I don’t think that would be regarded as racism, or at least I wouldn’t regard it as such. There’s no race exemplified in it even. I’m sure some in the media would cry it, but others would defend it and it would be a typical day in “news” and politics.
A bigger problem would be that such an attitude is not really conducive towards achieving things in congress. When your starting point is “GO TO HELL!!!” it doesn’t exactly bode well for reaching some kind of compromise. (In fairness to Mrs. Waters, the Tea Party hasn’t exactly been the most negotiable bunch, and frankly has held our congress “hostage”).
I’m confused where racism comes in.
And the Tea Party can go straight to hell.
